But the thing is, there's plenty of homosexuals who aren't like that, who have to suffer the stereotype that you've given them, because the gays you hear about are like that.
The media wants you to think that people go too far, because that's their way of sweeping it under the carpet. The stuff you hear on TV does not reflect reality. Homophobia is still a big problem but the commercial stations who are secretly homophobic but won't admit it want you to believe that it's not common when it's part of everyday life.
I know it goes too far sometimes, but it would still be a s**t life to be a homosexual, although probably still not as bad as any of us. Although a gay aspie will have real problems... The media wants you to believe that more gay people take it too far when in reality many people aren't like that.
When I was at school, homophobia was so bad that anyone who wasn't homophobic would be accused of being gay...
I mean, if you were gay, would you like people telling you that you're a whiner with too much rights and suffer prejudice and abuse because no one believes it's real... I think anyone with AS can relate to exactly the same situation.
People can be born with all kinds of defects, so the chance of having a different sexuality is one of them, and it has been proven in the way people's brains have been developed that gay people don't choose their sexuality and more than us straight people do.
I was once a homophobe too when I went to school, but the thing I learnt is that whether it's racism or homophobia or harrassing an aspie, putting people down doesn't do any good, and the pleasure you get in the suffering of others isn't worht it, because it will only justify people doing to you, and if people didn't do it it wouldn't be a problem in the first place.
Homosexuality is only a problem if you make it one. The fact that you're criticizing all these stereotypes is the real problem, because it gives gay people who aren't like that a bad name. And there's plenty of them, but the media likes to present it in a way otherwise.
