Or what about a Nigerian who came here specifically so she could have a baby?

Gawd, don't get me started on illegal immigrants and their "Anchor Babies", unless you want to see me win another flame war!

I assumed 'came here to have a baby,' meant, 'came here to have less of a chance of dying in childbirth during the process of having a baby.' There are more reasons than one to want to deliver in the hospital of a first-world nation.

some people on here seem to have misunderstood the term liberal socialism.

the state has nothin to do with a private company, you can own pretty much what you want.

I dislike being treated by Society or the Government as if I were property.

I live for my own sake and the sake of my family. I do not live for the State, for Society, for The People or for God. I am selfish so I oppose Socialism which is anti-self and altruistic.

It all adds up to soft fascism. Fascism with a smile, rather than fascism with a jack-boot in the face.

i doubt there is much difference in personal liberty,
to be honest i dont know what term you would use, to me it is a hybrid system.
COUNTRY FINAL WEIGHTED AVERAGE ECONOMIC FREEDOM AVG EF RANK GOVT AND TAX AVG G&T RANK INDIV FREEDOM AVG IF RANK

United Kingdom 81.96 81.25 5 65.10 22 99.53 11
United States 81.96 80.50 6 66.24 20 99.13 19
Denmark 76.48 78.75 11 50.75 94 99.95 2

world freedom index

we give up a higher percentage of our income with taxes and our companies are regulated, that gives us higher personal liberty.
everything is a trade off but to think that simply because there is some socialist ideology it will infringe on your personal choice, is to me plain wrong.

Well Denmark has a pretty stable economy vs other european countries and we are what we would call socialists.

Our credit rating is still AAA.

And why isn't socialists free because I thought socialism was free market and everyone is social equal.

And we are pretty free you just can't make blasphemic or racistic comments public.

The trade off: economic stability for freedom of speech. Bad trade.

you can make all the blasphemic remarks you want, you can critisize who you want,
discrimination is punishable under certain circumstances.

That means freedom of association and contract has been substantially compromised.

The 14th amendment guarantees (at least linguistically) equal protection of the laws. Most of the other stuff is unconstitutional shinanigans played by Congress and permitted by the courts.

There is nothing in the 14th amendment that says a private employer can not refuse to hire people he does not want to hire for whatever reason he does not want to hire them. Not a word. Not a syllable. The 14th amendment regulates -government- not private firms.

so making gross unfounded discrimination illegal makes it fascists state?

if so it would say just as much about pretty much any other system r nation as it would those with socialist ideas.

nothing is ever absolute,

People in the private domain should be able to associate with whomsoever they please (assuming the feeling is mutual) and disassociate from whomsoever they please (as long as that does not violate a legal contract). Our lives belong to us, not the State and not to Society.

If it be not harmful then does as thou will or not, as the case may be.

You are not here just to live for others. You are your own, first and foremost.
