How can a Christian also be a Republican?

Mostly because the alternative, to give free things to the poor, solves the poor problem by making them die of hunger.

Wow, Jesus is a Dick for trying to end that.
Was Jesus talking about the statistical poor or the Destitute?
the word in mathew is πτωχοῖς from πτωχὰ worthless or like a beggar.

Giving money to beggars is the easiest way to ensure they stay that way.
And something you are missing is that the last panel is not an endorsement of the good market value thing but is just supposed to mean that Jesus gave up.

Giving change to beggar assures they stay that why giving them capital allows them to change.
most of the chronically homeless are mentally ill anyway vets, schizophrenics, Autistics without support groups etc.
bankrolling them would not destroy any economy.
I think the help the poor hurt the economy canard is a myth I can not find a reason why that would be true.

I hope you're being sarcastic, because, as I told Inuyasha, as an Aspie, I can't tell the difference.
Seriously.
Now excuse me, but in about fourteen minutes, I'm going to go to bed so I can be awake enough tomorrow morning to learn what Jesus actually said at church.

I never said I was dependent on you for anything, you're just getting hosed cause it's politically conveinent to demonize you, while Vigilans made the appropriate pay-offs. (I'm being hypothetical before people start taking this too literally).

BS. Republicans accuse anyone of questioning giving the rich tax cuts while cutting the social safety net of being motivated by envy, or of being communists. On Fox Noise, they constantly talk about "the war on the rich," yet talk about the poor as the"poor," as if they really are hardly that bad off.
I'm hardly doing anything to anyone, other than speaking my mind. Fox and the wealthy conservatives have plenty of power to disrupt the lives of ordinary people.

Our economy wouldn't be in this mess if we didn't have a President that was so anti-business. We quite frankly would have recovered by now if it wasn't for Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. My family is struggling right now, but I know enough of what is going on to know that the rich aren't the ones causing the problem. Dumping a bunch of dead weight in the caboose when the engine needs fuel is stupid, yet that's what Obama has done.

all true. But do not forget that the world of the mega-corporations is very risk averse. The people who started these firms are for the most part long gone into old age or doing something else. What is left are corporations run by the "suits". These people have no objection to government regulations that keeps pesky competitors for eating up their markets.
We do not have capitalism in the U.S. We have Crony Capitalism, a bogues imitation of capitalism, that gives capitalism a bad name.

I know large corporations are risk-averse, I also know that's why small start-ups tend to be successful, and that's also how these large corporations end up suffering loss of business due to the upstart, and then they either adapt or they die while the newcomer takes over.

Maybe the government should not bail these dinosaurs out.

I never supported the bailouts to begin with, if you study the pattern though, you would note the GM closures were political in nature and did not make business sense.

Everything our government does is of a political nature and has not made much sense since the administration of Calvin Coolidge.

Our economy is in the toilet because Republicans had left Obama a train wreck, and now are trying to prevent him from cleaning it up in order that he has only one term.

The Talents were a metaphor for God's gift of grace and faith. There were those who made use of God's gifts which was pleasing for God, but the dumbshit who just hid his away just pissed the master (God) off.
In all honesty, it's the religious right who tries to take this story literally as how you're supposed to invest and get rich.

The blame game continues. Obama was handed a mess; a large amount of the stimulus was spent during the Bush Administration. Obama has not made things much better. Interesting that you are point this out to Inuyasha because Republicans are more likely than Democrats to find fault with their own party's economic policies; despite the fact that a large majority of Americans blame Obama for making things worse. The blame game being played by the Democrats is not gaining them much political traction; they are far better off making a case for their American Jobs Act, something that the majority of Americans are open to supporting. The present Democrat Administration unfortunately plays politics like it is a besieged minority; it is not a good way to develop broad support. They fail to delineate between the situation on the hill and the situation in America.

Actually Obama has made things far worse, and if you look into what caused this fiasco, you would know that it was the Community Reinvestment Act that is the culprit. Sueing Boeing for having a factory in South Carolina for instance, Obamacare, etc.
There are 18 Republican Jobs Bills if I remember correctly that are sitting in the Senate (that have already passed the house), that Harry Reid won't allow up for a vote. Yet Obama wants the Republicans to pass a jobs bill that they haven't even seen yet, we've seen how well things work out when you pass a bill without even bothering to read it.

I'm getting sick of Obama being able to lie and lie and lie, and his 10,000 press secretaries in the media lets him get away with it.

How about you look at inflation, additionally I would like the context of that graph and where it came from because it looks a little fishy, putting it mildly.

And what did those job plans entail? More tax cuts for the rich? Maybe union busting? Oh, and of course job creating policies that Republicans have been fighting for so stridently, such as cutting back on medicare and medicaid, and special education.
