The ruination and rehabilitation of Germany occurred within two generations. The suffering of the Jews in the Dispersion went on for centuries. The two cases are not really comperable.

As to becoming businessmen the same could be said for Japan. Japan learned that peaceful trade nad production is much more profitable than conquest and empire. Which is why Japan prefers not to have a full bore military establishment. Besides the cost of Japan's defense is borne by the United States.

To some extent. Prior to the Great War, the Germans were a reasonably decent lot. And since the end of WW2 the Germans turned out to be a reasonably decent lot. The time of Hitler was definitely an aberration. The was a period of time when the anti-German jokes implied that the behavior of Germany was wired into the DNA of Germans. For example, Listening to the Wagnerian Operas makes a German want to go out a conquer Poland. Of course this is nonsense. It just seemed funny at the time.

I think the Germans have outlived the shame the Hitler and his buddied brought upon Germany. And unlike the Japanese establishment, they faced up to the part German played in the horrors and did not try to evade it. In Japan they still have not fully come face to face with the abomination that Japan came to be during the reign of the generals. Even so. The Japanese are now productive and well behaved. Better to let bygones be bygones.

Agreed. By beating someone over the head because the group they belong to had once done something bad - over and over - is only going to cause resentment among the ones being beaten over the head. Then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of more bad stuff happening.

In fact, that is what brought on WW2. The peace settlement was so unjust to Germany that nothing good could possibly come of it. The French establishment was completely shortsighted in the matter. But, I blame Woodrow Wilson, most of all. The French and the British let him have his pet project, the League of Nations, and for that Wilson let the French and British utterly ruin Germany. Wilson was an over righteous stuffed shirt and a major league jackass. What is ironic is that the U.S. Congress utterly rejected the League of Nations..

Jews are smarter than Asians. Especially when you consider how small of a group they are. They make up like 2% of the US population and probably 1/3 of our Nobel Prizes in the sciences. What Asian scientists can compete with Feynman, Einstein, Witten, Weinberg, etc.. for example?

They are also great in the arts. A lot of our TV shows and movies are written and directed by Jews. They are good at music. Even when not in front, they are in back producing or doing the writing. They are some of the best comedians. They created Superman, Spiderman, etc..

I have a feeling that the only reason ruevyne thinks the jews are smarter is because they made the rest of the world bite hard on the one god theory. wich I have to admit, was a great sales pitch as everyone did bite. but I really hate this topic man, it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Also I'm shure ruevyne has stated that he is jewish so this topic is baised, If the nation of Israel didnt have the United States as a hired bully those guys would be eaten alive over there. Somehow living in a land surronded by your enemies and being competley out numberd doesnt seem so smart to me

Maybe he thinks that way because Jews have the accomplishments to back it up. Without Jews, the US would look like Alabama.

Whats wrong with Alabama? I've lived there before, And while there are alot of religious fanatics and poverty I'm shure the same thing can be said for Israel. fanatics and poverty, unless Israel doesnt have those.

That's a bit unfair. ruveyn isn't acting like some sort of Jewish supremacist. He's confronted by the data, which is uncontroversial (Jews succeed disproportionately at everything associated with "intelligence") and he's giving the data an interpretation which goes against the idea of inherent supremacy.

Jewish revolutions and scientific/cultural influences is unrivaled. From physics to marxism and humanism, from the mainstream media to influencing the religious beliefs of most of the worlds religious believers, from such a tiny people, they have surely blessed the world with knowledge that has yet to be matched by any other people. The monotheistic god is a big one, but all of the human rights that they have pioneered is unrivaled.

Our helping out the Israeli's have been insignificant, they have the GDP and population of Missouri or Tennessee so our 3 billion a year is not much of their 240 billion dollar economy, about a tenth of a percent. Recall that they did fend for themselves quite well in what was essentially a land grab by all of the surrounding powers, with no interest or caring for the palestinians.

Ashkenazi Jews do well on standardized tests that measure crystallized intelligence, but on visual-spatial subtests they score lower than white gentiles and Asians. Jews are underrepresented in engineering and architecture, which rely heavily on spatial thinking, and they never built great structures like the Romans and the Chinese (archaeologists haven't uncovered anything of note in their part of the Levant). The environment that selected their intellectual profile did not reward masonry skills, maybe because they didn't settle in one place for very long (nomads don't build cities). Jewish culture prized literacy, and produced scribes and people who could orally transmit Jewish law from memory.

In terms of crystallized intelligence, Indian immigrants to the US are the smartest group since they have the highest standardized test scores. On tests of fluid intelligence like the Raven's Progressive Matrices, East Asians outscore Jews. In terms of cultural achievements, the Germans have achieved more in the sciences and high culture than the Jews. The achievements of the Greeks in the ancient world dwarf the accomplishments of the Hebrews.

On a personal note, I was able to read at a level far above my peers, but I was terrible at hands-on projects like science experiments or assembling something from a schematic. I remember trying to do an experiment in elementary school that had students generate electrical currents from a battery and I couldn't do it. My Jewish relatives are the same way. I have a relative who is a published author and he has no sense of direction. He gets lost all the time even when he has a map. Jewish comedians make jokes about this too. David Brenner said that Jews can fix anything with one finger, and then he would motion with his index finger for someone to come toward him. Jackie Mason made jokes about Jews not being able to build houses. Jews are apparently aware of their lousy mechanical and spatial ability.

The side effect of talmudic training is a rip roaring talent for mathematics and theoretic physics. Check out the number of Jews who are Nobel prize winners in physics. Ditto for recipients of the Fields Medal in mathematics (there is no Nobel award in math). You will find a disproportionate number of Jews in these categories. When Jews become unobservant they tend to drift into the fields requirement excellence in abstract thinking. Abstract thinking does not require steel and stone. Pencil and paper will do very nicely.

I'd venture to guess that abstract thinking is a by-product of leisure more so than literary studies.
