Does systemic racism against blacks even exist anymore?
This discussion is still disappointing. Not surprising. But disappointing.
Are you disappointed because people are not agreeing with you, or because your borderline hysterical posts are not getting the response you'd hoped for?
Neither, but you already know that. That's why you arbitrarily framed things to be a false either-or choice between two things that favor or benefit you.
It's like asking someone, "so, do you still beat your kids?" knowing full well the individual does not beat kids, but also knowing that framing the question that way makes the person look bad, no matter what they say.
No. Not that you actually care - it's just meant to be a troll-y "lol-u-mad-bro" in the manner that makes bullies and smart-asses and other such broken humans feel all warm and proud for a brief moment of winning-ness.
No. I'm disappointed cos people are actually proud of that kind of behavior. I'm disappointed that even as you gaslight and scoff at my distaste, you demonstrate the exact self-indulgent semi-sadism I'm talking about. The smug sense of satisfaction at the expense of others.
A buncha rednecks tried to attack someone's wife. Yeah, lol, lets laugh at their "hysterics".
I'm disappointed that soulless ghouls have the audacity to pretend they know what equality looks like, when they're so willing to step on other people.
I'm disappointed that bigoted self-interest is so prevalent that it doesn't even bother to hide the fact that if you speak out about or against the imbalance of standard, it resorts to the same dismissive gaslighting that it uses to ignore the minorities it claims are treated fairly.
I'm disappointed for every parent who raised a POS man-child into adulthood who would take pride in the accomplishment of "lol i made u mad", like so many pretentiously self-indulgent voices seem to be on the internet.
I'm disappointed by the idea of anyone an autism forum that spends half it's time screaming about how our problems are real, and without even missing a beat, or seeing the irony, would effortlessly and gracefully do a 180 and tell someone else that their problems aren't real.
I'm disappointed that people keep asking, over and over again, "duh, well, if da blacks are so disadvantaged, then how come a few of dem still succeed, huh?" as if they've never heard the constantly repeated answer that "disadvantaged doesn't mean ALL, it means CAN", in the same way making the basket in basketball higher is a DISADVANTAGE to the shorter players, by making it HARDER to score, but doesn't mean the shorter players CAN'T score - and despite this answer being given frequently, they somehow feel "clever" for ignoring the explanation, and simply asking the question again as if it was never answered a thousand times over already.
I'm disappointed every time I hear some spectacular moron plaintively whimper the sentiment "But what about WHITE history month?!" as if all american history isn't already almost exclusively about "white history" in every way shape and form.
And I'm disappointed, not because I "didn't get the reaction I'd hoped for", but rather because I got exactly the response I expected. Cocky edge-lords smugly stroking their egos, sucking sadistic pleasure from the people they attempt to antagonize.
I do , however, take great comfort, in knowing that those who's sense of self is so fragile, so empty, so weak and helpless, that the meager act of affecting someone else emotionally, even negatively, is sufficient to make them feel "in control", or "powerful", or otherwise pleased with themselves, will usually reap exactly what they sow, and need no curses cast upon them, as they've usually done it to themselves.
I also rest easy, knowing that the world does not stop turning, and outdated ideas will inevitably isolate themselves into oblivion. And even as some people don't care about the 16% of black people that compose america, the world is going to keep right on mixing and changing and evolving, regardless of the opinions of the 17% of white people that make up the planet. And as people keep mixing and mixing, and moving and changing, that 17% will grow smaller and smaller. As Warren Beatty once said, "everybody's gotta keep f**king everyone else until we're all the same color".
And besides - anger is cathartic. Mock me all you want, if it helps you prop up your self-esteem. The way your faces light up when you get the reaction you want is adorable. Like opiates for the emotionally depraved.
Racism pisses me off, because I actually care about other people. But most racists are usually just stupid or ignorant, and even racists are still human beings, usually - and while I do have a list of acceptable reasons for smacking people upside the head or putting a boot up their arse, simply being dumb isn't among them. So instead I rant about racists, and racism, and if someone decides to take it personally, that's on them, and I can't help but wonder why. Yes, I respond to what people say, but I address the words and ideas, not the person. And some of the words and ideas are so old and tired, they're not worth marveling over, no matter how they've been polished and shined - and in responding to them, i can't help but bring forth the same energy of every other time I've addressed or discussed the same regurgitated talking points - not for the sake of the messenger, but for the sake of the audience.
Topics like this are like playing with fire. Waving around a lit torch is a great way to get attention, but there's always the chance you might get caught in the flame, or inadvertently light something else ablaze, something that may not be easily extinguished.
But please, tell me again how a black president (TWO terms!) PROVES racism can't be real.
Not even a condom is 100% effective at preventing an undesirable situation. Yet racism is held to this absurdly high bar of perfection wherein it can't be REAL racism unless LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE BLACK PERSON is visibly and overtly mistreated by LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE. Racism doesn't have to prevent ALL POC from succeeding - it just has to keep them rare enough that they can't consolidate enough power to effect changes. As was very clearly stated, "they're only 16% of the population", so even if some of them do become successful despite the system, it's not enough to stop the system from continuing to do as it does.
A black guy got elected twice, and since then white america has been frantically trying to pass voter suppression laws as if their lives depended on it. I'm sure that's just a coincidence

TRying to red-herring the discussion into "class" rather than race might seem like a clever idea, especially since class is an actual issue, but it ignores the fact that race and class are historically intertwined. Remember when white people decided that blacks were definitely only 3/5 as important as white people, regardless of "class". America is really good at screwing over ALL kinds of people at once. It doesn't have to pick one group or the other. Money can offset a lot of problems.
Notice the claim that they'd be ok being black, as long as they're wealthier than they are now. And then go on to say that yeah, there ARE a few inconveniences to being black, REALLY minor, SO VERY minor - but nobody dares say "my life would be no different if I was exactly who I am, but black instead" - it's only "id be ok black, if I had more money" - because duh, money solves problems. and having money grants a power that can overcome other disadvantages.
But yeah, racism isn't real. You can tell, cos a committee of white people said so.
It's like a bad joke that a child won't stop telling over and over.
^
Maybe try calmly laying out your case without all the personal attacks, as is you don't seem worth seriously engaging with. "Everyone who disagrees with me is a racist a**hole" is not a very promising start to a conversation.

The consensus is rugged individualism is:
The belief that all individuals, or nearly all individuals, can succeed on their own and that government help for people should be minimal. The phrase is often associated with policies of the Republican party and was widely used by the Republican president Herbert Hoover.
This translates (to my ears) that people are responsible for their own fate and should not be reliant on welfare, The last time I checked the vast majority of autistic people get a diagnosis in order to be eligible for some type of welfare support (for many throughout their lives).
The only autistic people who would be sincerely against government support are either very wealthy or very high functioning and capable of being independent.
Resilience comes with support.
Republicans and conservatives need to embrace all people in their community sincerely. The harsh language they use to speak about those unable to care for themselves has made me even more distant from their philosophy than before.
I never bothered myself with politics but tended to be progressive, since getting married and my daughter's diagnosis the conservative viewpoint seems even more alien to me.

The topic is whether *systemic racism* is real, not random racism.
For example, math is said to be systemically racist, because it singles out black people, and results in them being underrepresented in STEM jobs.

Not that far off sadly. That, and all of the critical theories would never be so straightforward and economical with words, I really think half the point is rendering them inscrutable to non-academics to make it more difficult for people to understand what is actually being argued and proposed.
