Some wild predictions

- Truss beats Sunak in the members’ vote

I see Tugendhat out early, and its either Truss Vs Sunak or Mourdant Vs Sunak in the final vote. Either one of them would beat Sunak so I would reluctantly hope for Truss as I think she would be awful in an election.

I have a looming dread that Mourdant will win. She is a Johnson clone but with some self awareness. I think we will just see a continuation of the last 2 1/2 years with a ruthless nastiness to it.

Johnson is an absolute piece of s**t. So glad he's going. Trouble is he's gonna be replaced with another absolute piece of s**t.

Blast, I missed most of PMQ.
Nice to see Mr. Speaker restoring order like that!

Johnson saying "I'm leaving with my head held high". Wut?
He's as much out of touch with reality as Trump. 8O

Current issue of Private Eye says it all, really:
(warning - image of an overflowing lavatory which may cause offense)

From that issue, a little out of date now:

"Number Crunching"
3 - Prime ministerial candidates (Sunak, Javid, Zahawi) making their family's immigration history part of their campaign.
3 - Number of those who support today's asylum seekers being sent to Rwanda.

I'm glad I finished my dinner when I looked at that.

Javid definitely tried to use his humble beginnings as part of his speech. I mean that kind of rhetoric might have worked say 20 years ago but I'd like to think that the majority of folk can see past that kind of thing now.

I'm thinking Mordaunt and Truss for the final now. I keep going back and forth on this.

It's both pathetic and sickening that they even try.

It appears to be down to Sunak and Truss now - Rishi Sunak had the most supporters in the intial round, but BJ's mates have rallied behind Liz Truss in an effort to take him down. Have to say, between the two, I'd much prefer Sunak. In 2020, he was the one responsible for the most un-Torylike insight that if half the country suddenly lost their jobs, that would be bad for The Economy. Truss just seems to be a dim-witted lightweight with a habit of shooting her mouth off at the worst possible moment.

I'm thinking the majority of the tory party would vote Sunak if it went between him and Hunt. I'm thinking Hunt has been put there as some kind of patsy so they will be justified in voting Sunak if it came to it beinf him against Hunt at the end.

I'm just waiting to see the outcome of what happens today.

I mean there was some reason why Johnson was saying that today's pmq's could very well be the last. What does he know that the rest of us don't.

Also if it did boil down to Hunt vs Sunak, Hunt would probably pull out so it wouldn't even go to the vote.

But putting all that aside it does look like it will go to Mordaunt vs Truss or Sukak.

I can't see her without being reminded every time of this inept, crashing-in-flames episode:

Gah, it still makes my toes curl.
