I am also glad that iamnotaparakeet is here.

And did anyone really expect much from this thread? Seriously, just look at the OP. It's begging for a petty flame-war, and that's what it got.

It was so weird there when the title of the thread mysteriously changed from "The Worst Thing About Religion" to "Let's Focus All Of Our Attention On BenjaminBreeg". That was wondrous. Perhaps even miraculous. Either way.

He started flaming Orwell, then myself when I asked him to desist. I'm surprised a mod hasn't banned him yet.

Given that he has committed two of the only offenses likely to get you in trouble in PPR (referring to other members as "ret*ds," and insultingly using adulterated usernames as when he referred to you as "fagsite" on the previous page) it is likely that he would receive at least a warning if a mod were contacted. But I think the mods normally stay out of PPR unless called, so for now this is our own private flamewar without moderator oversight. In any case, I find him an interesting source of comic relief. I just can't take someone seriously if they b***h about "maths" vs "math" and call people out for saying favor rather than favour, but can't keep their own posts clear of basic spelling and grammatical errors that are wrong regardless of which dialect of English is used.

DOH! I'm starting to enjoy your posts to orwell. Again, i'll give you the benefit of the doubt due to how slow you are. Look back again and see who started attacking spelling and such, you'll find it was one of you who attacked me, i'm just giving you a piece of your own medicine. Now you've shown yourself as a hypocrite. Wait, you probably already did that being religious.

I'm only visiting. Still off my meds. Thought the appointment was today, but I confused the T of Tuesday with that of Thursday, so I have two more long days. How this relates: off my meds, I can only take so much abuse before I start returning it. On meds, I can take more abuse before returning it... :P

first i'll answer you pathetic later post. You people attacking me should be banned for cyber-bullying. I'm an easy target right?

Myself, Phagocyte, AG, Twoshots, and several other well-established regulars are going to be banned because of you? I somehow doubt it.

Actually, I think you may be getting reported for those last insults. Your obviously very upset.

Unless you choose to report an insult, the mods will ignore it. And if you do choose to do so, the best possible result for you is mutually assured destruction.

You lot are all as bad as each other. Fighting takes two or more people. None of you has any reason to feel smug about that either. It's frankly pathetic and embarrassing for all of you involved in this scuffle.

That is not an argument. Any reason for assuming that everyone is insane or is this a matter of "faith"?

I believe insanity is a social construct.

Quote:
I consider those who do not follow logic to be behaving in an insane and irrational way.

Social construct.
Quote:
If logic has no value, then science would have no worth. Or results.

Science has results.

Religion has never demonstrated results that are measurable.

Who says science has worth? it has results plenty but worth is subjective.

Have you seen the state of the world? No sane world would be like that, especially if reason is the measure of sanity. Human nature is irrational.

Okay, go! What did you do, win a soccer game?

lol. When this year or last? Last year in the golf I won the nett cup and the masters medal(end of year competition for all the winners)

in tennis I won most improved player and was runner up in the restricted doubles

this year in golf I won the 3rd major, the Essex strokeplay major. Then I won my golf club championship, putting my name on the club board for the second time.

I met the girl of my dreams.

I saw my favourite band play live

oh and soccer, I played one charity match and got asked to rejoin a team, even though I hadn't played a proper match for nearly 10 years.

So i'm not completely useless. One of you come and play sport with me, and i'll laugh at you.

And then this gets turned around by someone saying, "well, it's all religion's fault!" or "impeach God!" or some other ludicrous statements.

This is my concept of a discussion on religion:

Atheist make irrefutable demand for evidence.

Theist states he does not need evidence or reason to hold a belief.

Atheist questions this.

Theist provokes hositility with patronising and false pity.

Generally yes. Because the atheist is presupposing an arbitrary a priori standard for belief. Which they almost invariably think is interpersonally binding. I mean really corroonb, anyone trolling the PPR forums deals with issues of knowledge and belief on a daily basis. If you can't offer a constructive philosophy of belief, you're being frustrating and kind of wasting our time. Belief systems are constructs; why would you start a debate and say "Complete my construct". It's not like we haven't heard something like it already.

Things like "Russel's Teapot" are so over done that there is nothing left to do but mock them. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't take individual claims very seriously here. I'm interested in interesting systems, but any atheist making those claims 90% of the time has neither a grasp of moving between different systems nor even the essential absurdity of their system.

I'm generalizing, but the disputative e-atheist tends to have characteristics that rub people the wrong way, and one of them is taking their position way too seriously.
