knwon as Santa Maria (Holy Mary) in Peru, I think you should have put a choice like 'the weed of God'. At least that's how she is known in Indian by the Sadhus (holy men) who praise their lord Shiva by smoking it from dawn til night.

But I suggest you smoke or eat it with due respects to the holy weed which she is and not in a hedonistic recreational mode.

Om Hare om, shanti jai Shiva!! !

Which just goes to show the laws against weed are ridiculous.. and were made by fools.

Why do we put up with these idiots in government.

Most people hate them.. and see politicians wiith contempt.. yet we continue to allow them to abuse their positions of power.. while jailing people for petty crimes (like drugs).

Meanwhile the government continues to sell arms..

Weapons that kill and maim innocent people..

The aged.. women.. kids.. even babies.

But that's ok.. it seems.

Then we have to listen to them.. hypocritically preaching "Drugs are bad.. they kill people"

Yet no one seems to be questioning this ridiculous position our.. so called.. "leaders" are taking.

Isn't that strange!! !

They found Marihuana in Egyptina mummies. A shaman was found in the Himalayas, more 15000 years old, in his little shaman pouch they found?...exactly!

Frickin' necros. This thread's from 2006!

However, I did notice this gem on the first page- from probably the longest-lasting regular on this board, AG.

Well, I would not like to add any new recreational drugs to the market. I have no problems with regulated medicinal marijuana but I do not want the government to allow smoking weed because it does mess with the mind and it is a part of a slacker stoner culture which needs to be discouraged. Honestly, I would like to ban tobacco and add more limits to alcohol. Drugs should be discouraged because they tend to on average harm people in ways that go beyond physical harm.

Though, if it didn't have his familiar avatar next to it, I would never have guessed that that paragraph could have been written by AG.

He might have change his view on this matter, as I remember he stated recently that it wouldn't be bad to legalize soft drugs if that was better for the economy. Although, I agree with the banning of tobacco :P

adulterated tabacco should be banned, genuine not. Did you know that it is a father palnt and that considered a hallucinogenic too. In the Amazon the Jivaro Indiians go on purge of a tabacoo juice diet to get their visions

By his own account he's gone from fascist to anarchist.

I also would be fine with the banning of tobacco, at least in public places. In my home state of Ohio, smoking is more or less banned in most public places. Now that I'm in college in Florida, there are people smoking more often in such places. I don't like cigarette smoke. And I know asthmatics who, before Ohio implemented smoking bans, had to be careful about where they went (eg no bowling alleys) because they couldn't handle the smoke. IMO the right of the general public not to be forced to breathe in carcinogenic s**t every time you walk down the street or want to go bowling trumps the right of a drug addict to be able to conveniently get their fix.

I smoke. And even though I'm not generally one for higher taxes, tobacco could be taxed a bit more. Funds could be directed toward cancer research and smoking cessation programs.

In other words, when push comes to shove, you're really just another socialist nanny-stater who desires greater and greater government interference.

No, I just don't like being forced to be exposed to second-hand smoke. I'm fine with legalizing pot and such, and I don't want to ban smoking altogether. I just think that, if drug use is legal, it should at least have the restriction that you are not impacting others who have not chosen to use your drug of choice.

If I am repeating previous posts I apologise for not reading all the previous posts.

I had my first cigarrette at 8 my first joint by 12, magic mushrooms and acid by 15, heroin by 18. Obviously prohibition does not work. I believe in the leagalisation of all the major recreatioal drugs. This is not because I am pro dugs, in fact I am anti recreational drugs, I just dont see prohibition working. Access to drugs is very easy, I once made a bet that although I knew no one in my town that used I could get some heroin withing 5 hours, two hours later I had a foil. All prohibition does is drive the drug trade underground leading to inflated prices which in turn leads to burglary, muggings, prostitution/sex slavery etc. Legalize and I believe much of this would stop.

The way to takle drugs is not through prohibition but education, social welfare, and mental health care for the individual involved, because trust me you do not go putting a needle into your arm if you are mentally sound. Just banning something that is so entrenched in human society will not work, it just makes millions of people into criminals.

Maybe full legalisation is going too far, but a different approach to the problem is needed, maybe decriminalisation to a certain amount.

With regard to the OP we really need to educate about the dangers of cannabis. IT IS NOT A SOFT DRUG, cannabis destroys lives, just because arguably it is not physically addictive it is certainly mentally addictive, thinking about it why is a mental addiction not classed as a physical one.

I think that varies from person to person, for some people virtually anything can become a dangerous addiction, others seem to be able to do hard drugs at will with no addictive effects. I'm lucky, I seem pretty impervious to addiction, having tried most of the major drugs at least a few times and walking away. I most certainly wouldn't say pot is any more dangerous than alcohol, and that's legal pretty much everywhere, and look how effective banning it was. I completely agree with the crux of your argument though, the current approach does nothing beyond making millions of people into criminals unnecessarily.

they discovered the gen for coffe, alcohol and tobacco, surely there must be one for cannabis. I smoke and don't get hooked on anything, so I have no gen for it.
I only use it as I said in a spiritual context embedded in a spiritual ritual, I don't smoke for the smoking
