You described some characteristics of what passes for "Liberal" in the US today, but that more or less describes economic liberalism. Social Liberalism seems to be more about equality. However, the liberal politicians are of the belief that some people are more equal than others because, oddly, that gets them elected.

I just took a quick stab to capture the gist of it without breaking it down into social and fiscal.
Equality? The left seems interested in the downtrodden only for the votes that can be harvested from them.

The rank and file conservative isn't nearly as interested in people's bedrooms as portrayed by the left. That's more if an issue with the "Christ-O-fascist" crowd.

No, you don't, mate. You really don't want that. A lot of us here are disgusted with the state of the NHS - honestly, many hospitals are filthy, disgusting hellholes of pandemonium. What you really want is decent health care, and the NHS can't really provide that. There are much better health care systems available in mainland Europe.

So, something more on par with Switzerland, Germany, the low countries, and Scandinavia?

You have it correct there. Although it's worth noting that many of those countries do NOT have a UK-style NHS. Most of those countries have health insurance programmes.

Anything is better than the "money is more important than human life" system that the US currently practices.

Sorry I missed this.

Your first statement: Hey, a politician is still a politician right or left. Control and power mate.

Second statement: It seems that the conservative base in America has been hijacked by the Christian Right, especially since the Tea Party/American Taliban came into play. Then again, pandering to the evangelicals gets the GOP elected.

I hate Britain that much I'm in a British nationalist party.

If by Britain you mean the Britain that treats the NHS as a sacred cow that must never be challenged, criticised, rebuked or reformed (because an army of time wasters, leeches and consultants depend on the bloody thing), then yes, I hate that Britain.

I'm not automatically against the idea of an NHS. I just think it's gone massively, massively haywire from what it was originally set up to do and the good intentions that were there at the time.

I am not right, nor center, nor left. The whole political system is a bad joke and I refuse to participate in it.
I am also not a libertarian/anarchist/communist or anything else. Politics angries up my blood too much due to the complete impotence that comes with refusing to follow one of the two predetermined puppets. The best I can do (for my own peace of mind) is just refuse to take any part in it.

(Comments are based on the american political system. Others are likely the same, but I am not knowledgeable enough to comment on them)

I'm in the far left / far libertarian corner of the political spectrum.

Well that's awfully cynical... and as far as I can tell, not based in reality. It certainly isn't in this country.

When you use language like that, it makes it seem like you are against a lot more than red tape and time wasting.

We have about 700 hospitals in this country, 40 of them were "dirty" in 2001 after a cleaning project.

"Decent health care" is certainly provided by the NHS. The vast majority of deaths in the UK are due to natural causes. The UK has a life expectancy that is virtually identical to Germany's and slightly higher than Benelux. British people live longer than Danes and only slightly shorter than Norwegians. This is despite Brits having famously bad diets, being the third most obese nation in the world (behind the USA and Mexico), and our relationship with alcohol. If the NHS was failing to provide "decent health care", people would not be surviving so long.

That's the right wing propaganda's presentation of the left, which the right has swallowed hook, line, and sinker.

I don't think autism from a political standpoint favors one over the other. You will find that we will attempt for intellectual and rational reasons for our political beliefs regardless of which side we're on. Me personally, I used to be more conservative (due to a hardcore conservative family) but have crossed the line towards being more liberal in the past few years. However there are a few things at the heart of liberalism that I don't agree with or still on the fence about. So I guess you could say I'm a moderate.

/\ /\
When the left dotes more on welfare than jobs.
When the left continually reminds people of their gender and/or race.
When the left continually screeches about voter ID laws since it's a few of their electorate that might wind up "marginalized".
Need I go on?
No, I think I've made my point............
