Looks like Georgia has just now turned light blue (Dem-leaning, though not yet decided) on the Washington Post map.

It's reported Georgia has 18,000 provisional and military absentee ballots to get through once the regular counting is done.

Provisional ballots are ballots with problems on them.

Biden now leads Pennsylvania by 5,587 votes...

I swear the counting is having diminishing returns. Getting slower and slower. Maybe it's just me

Technically, he has already won.  He just gained Pennsylvania by over 5500 votes. He is also ahead in Georgia by about 1100 votes, Arizona by over 90,000 votes, and Nevada by over 12,000 votes.

Unless my math is off, Mr. Biden has 306 electoral votes already in his pocket, even if the counting of ballots stopped right now!  However, every ballot MUST be counted.

Members of the he Biden/Harris campaign have already assembled their transition team.

Meanwhile, somewhere inside the Beltway...

I am very confident (>95% certain) that Biden will prove the winner for the following reasons:

- He leads in Nevada. There are still votes to be counted in Reno and Las Vegas. These votes have so far been going approximately 80% for Biden. While there are still some votes to come in from other parts of the state that lean Republican, these are much fewer in number. Nevada has been called by ABC.

- He leads in Arizona. Arizona’s population is concentrated in Maricopa County, a “swing” county which is presently breaking about 55% for Trump. This is not enough to overturn Biden’s lead. There are also sizeable portions of votes to come in from counties which are solidly Democrat, particularly Pima County. There is potential for Trump to narrow the margin, but it doesn’t look like he’ll get over the line. Arizona has been called for Biden by Fox News and by the Associated Press, although I think this was premature.

- Biden leads in Georgia. Over 99% of ballots have been counted. Biden’s lead is slim and could theoretically be overturned. There are still some postal and provisional ballots to be counted. These are likely to be favourable to Biden.

- Since I made that post, Biden has taken the lead in Pennsylvania. There are still more votes to count, particularly in the cities, and particularly postal and provisional votes. These votes are likely to favour Biden. Pennsylvania, and therefore the whole election, has since been called for Biden by Decision Desk HQ, a reputable organisation that handles elections for much of the media.

I am extremely confident (>99%) that Biden will win Nevada. In that situation, Trump would need to win every remaining state (except Alaska, where he is very likely to win). I am very confident (>95%) that Trump will win each of Georgia and Pennsylvania, and confident (80%) he will win Arizona. I am therefore extremely confident (>99%) that Biden will win the election.

This does not account for:

- The discovery of errors in the counting of votes, or legal challenges substantially affecting the integrity of the election.
- Recounts in Wisconsin or Michigan (although would assign a low probability that they would give a different final result).
- Faithless electoral college electors.

The question is now: Will the media outlets announce Biden as the winner soon?

With Pennsylvania under his belt, he has 273 electoral votes even without Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.

Georgia is likely heading for a recount, and will thus not be settled anytime soon, but Pennsylvania could soon end up with a margin in favor of Biden large enough (> 0.5 percent of the total vote, or a bit less than 40,000) to avoid an automatic recount.

Most seem to be a little more circumspect than in 2016.  They are using terms like "projected winner" and "majority of electoral votes" rather than declaring either candidate as the winner.

Besides, it is likely that we will not know the official outcome until 2020-11-20 at the earliest, even if the outcome has become painfully obvious by then.

Ahh ... so THAT is why he insisted on putting Amy Coney Barrett in the Supreme Court before the elections.

Yeah, that's likely what he wishes (and ACB does seem like someone from The Handmaids Tale) - but I'd hope she is more ethical than to blindly follow The Orange Toddler's wishes.
At the moment it looks like his legal "challenges" are getting shot down before drawing breath.

I don't remember it ever taking this long for us to hear the results. When Obama won, we all knew in less than 24 hours. When Trump won, we also knew in less than 24 hrs and protests broke out on Election day in 2016 when we all found out he had won.

My husband says it's because a lot more people voted than they had before and I said "Trump must have pissed that many people off so they all decided to vote blue to get him out of office, that is what my online friend did even though he likes neither party."
