The mass immigration of Africans and Asians into historically white countries like Britain is happening right now, and the non-white share of the populations in these countries is increasing as a consequence. Africans and Asians are not reciprocating by opening up their own countries to millions of Europeans (which also goes to show that the mass immigration of racially distant people is not inevitable and unstoppable).

I don't see what is so hard to understand here, and this really just goes to show that people so convinced of their moral righteousness will happily deny what is in front of their nose.

It's what you mean by "Mass" immigration i suppose. Ethnic minorities are 7% so i don't see that as a mass. I also don't see it as a threat. Care to explain to me why African people becoming british citizens is a bad thing that should be resisted or feared?

I'm saying it should be one law for all. Either other people are allowed to wear veils in banks or no-one is.

Correct. No masks or disguises in any place of public gathering. For anyone or anybody. Everyone in public must be identifiable.

In Pakistan it's worn in a few communities not as religious thing, just to show status (believe it or not), by British Muslims it's usually misplaced piety. In Afghanistan it's more because of the Taliban. In Iran and Arab countries, it's more part of a tradition of veiling women going back to pagan times - but it's also because Wahhabis in Saudi interpet the hadiths as it being required. They don't do it in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, West Africa, etc.

Actually, almost no Iranian women cover their faces (mainly just the ethnic-Arab minority in Khuzestan).

Incidentally, back in 1998 on International Women's day, a speech was given by Masoumeh Ebtekar (then a member of the Iranian cabinet) denouncing the horrific oppression of Afghan women at the hands of the Taliban. Most of the Western feminists in attendance were dumbfounded, thinking "she wears a chador -- how can SHE criticize the Taliban?"

An anthropologist author I saw being interviewed on TV talked about how the veil predated Islam in the pagan middle east.

The "good" girls wore the veil. The lower class, and the prostitutes were required to NOT to wear a veil. The law had to be enforced, but only on the latter class of ladies- to keep them FROM wearing veils and thus stealing status and putting on airs. The former group had no need to be forced TO wear to wear it and to proclaim their higher status.

What france dont want to ban another nation bans, so what does it matter here that more non-french people feel threatened by these measures? if i were a muslim and had been forced to wear one, i'd be thinking good riddens really.
