The drug companies could no longer research new cures and/or would cease to exist, and suddenly unless the government starts manufacturing medications we have no medications.

Plenty of pharmaceutical executives get rich while using that excuse.

The reason why it is such a good excuse is because it is true.

obviously, there is a philosophy that the government has claim to people's income, and if the government decides to take less of it, its suddenly consider a boon.

There is also a philosophy out there that government shouldn't be reaching into other people's pockets for their little pet projects, Government is supposed to be there for National Defense, not telling us what foods to eat.
Conservatives

On the flip side there is a philosophy that government knows best, your money isn't your money, it's the governments money, which they decide how much you get to have like you are a little child.

What that is is the conservative idea of what liberals believe. Too bad so many conservatives are so detached from reality.
And yes, liberals believe your money is your own, and that government doesn't always know best (such as Bush's tax cuts for the rich). But the purpose of government is to provide what the people want and need, which includes everything from defense to roads and bridges to social security and medicare. And those things can only be accomplished by collecting taxes.
By the way, if the federal government's only obligation was to provide defense, then we'd all be s**t out of luck when it comes to infrastructure, law enforcement, and public health.

Enforcement of public health is a form of defense. In this case "the enemy" is a micro-organism.

Roads and bridges existed long before governments did.

And governments are not for getting what people want and need to the people that want and need. -People- are what bring to others what the want and need. Governments have guns, most often they lie and are almost always a tyranny or on the verge of tyranny. There are no Good Governments. There are only Bad Governments and Worse Governments. There never were any Good Governments and there never will be. Government is a necessary evil, never a good thing. And a necessary evil is an evil. We just choose the lesser of the possible evils.

But there have been bridges and roads built during the existence of the US government, and thus the government can rightfully be credited with them. For instances, here in my part of the country, we'd have nothing but Indian hunting trails if the government hadn't have built roads and bridges after the arrival of American settlers from the east.

The first commercial turnpike in the U.S. the Cumberland Gap Pike was built with private capital. The first railroads were built with private capital. However the capitalists discovered that land is much cheaper when it is stolen or taken by force under Eminent Domain. So the capitalists let the government do the stealing for them and the government then passed out the land grants to their cronies.

It should be mentioned that the first road built in Washington territory was the Mullan road, which was built by the military and thus can be credited to the government. Soon after, it was used by both civilian settlers and military men. I can't say that it wasn't stolen from anyone, as I would think that the Spokane tribe were never reimbursed for the lost land.

No, everytime they lower taxes, the rich just create more jobs in China or Indonesia as jobs continue to close here. We won't get jobs here in the US till were working for 10.00 a day to make sneakers in a sweatshop and we've gotten rid of all out unions, worker rights, environmental laws, and child labor laws.

What I don't get with the Republican outlook is it does nothing to solve the deficit. Even if it created all these jobs, wouldn't we have to raise taxes at some point to pay off the deficit? I'm really not for big spending. However the money's already been spent by this administration and the Bush administration. If the Republicans or the Democrats wanted fiscal responsibility, they shouldn't have spent trillions on war industries and banks to begin with. However, its all been spent already, so we should realistically deal with it and raise taxes.

(I wonder when people are going to realize that Republicans are only fiscally responsible in their campaign speeches.)

There's another thing. The bracket is way too wide too. It puts someone who makes 6 figures on the same level as an international banker, which is just silly. A guy making 6 figs is guaranteed to pay ever bit of his 30%, where a corporation that makes hundreds of billions gets a bunch of loopholes to where they won't pay nearly as much. I think Bush Jr, a multi-billionaire only paid like 10,000 dollars in taxes in 2008 if I remember right.
