I've been disowned by friends over my political opinions. Ironically, the opinions didn't last nearly as long as the friendship had...

they don't sound like real friends...

They could have been better friends, to be sure. I figured out where I had gone wrong on my own, but they didn't care.

let's just agree that there are folks with short fuses on both the left and right. for proof of short fuses on the right, one need look no further than trump campaign rallies caught on tape. neither side need be paranoid or feel besieged, although such feelings lead to a sense of self-righteousness and cohesiveness, so are often nurtured.

I see that as a false equivalence. Our candidates were not inciting violence from the podium.

No, they were literally organizing it at the opponents rallies. That is brownshirt stuff, leftists in the country are politically violent and have no excuse.

Low level staff, not campaign employees, promptly fired are not equivalent to the candidate himself calling on those present to attack protesters. Hence, false equivalence.

It's funnier how I point out the specific methods of gaslighting, and then you use them again moments later. I may have been wrong about not caring about consistency, the disease of alternative facts may have rendered you incapable of comprehending complex ideas with which you disagree. Sad.

Just because you learned a new word today doesn't mean what you are saying is correct; you are hypocritical, ignorant of your own side, and quite frankly 'gaslighting' yourself considering the differences between words and actions. It is a false equivalence and you are on the wrong side of it, leftists are the ones misbehaving and undermining democracy. It's funny when you compare these violent 'protesters' to the what Democrats literally called 'domestic terrorists' in the Tea Party protests which amounted to old people sitting in lawn chairs with tricorne hats. How many intersections did they shut down, how many people did they attack, how much vandalism did they engage in? There really is no comparison.

I don't want to get deranged, so I looked back over the topic. I sincerely feel like I addressed debating tactics, as such. I don't consider them useful for real debate, but turning a real debate into a shouting match is exactly the point of these tactics. People did call me names, but I kind of overlooked it because I have changed my frame of reference regarding those tactics. Absolutely, stop replying if all you have is more gaslighting.
