On the subject of gun crime, I'd like to add that a gun is actually a pretty poor choice for a murder weapon - the ballistics will make it easy to identify and the sound of a gunshot will attract all sorts of attention. Plus, they're not exactly cheap. Best to use a knife or blunt instrument.

Morbid little sod, aren't you? But she is right. This, however, does not mean a knife or a blunt instrument can't be traced back to you.

snake: blind as well as ignorant, another reason why you shouldn't be let loose in society with anything more than a stuffed pillow. Obviously you haven't bothered to read a single word I've said, have you... Your comparison of your paradise to the horrors of Nazi Germany is the sickest form of comparison yet, and is an insult to the people who died under that regime. Do you seriously think that you can overthrow a duly elected government to make your life any better and make you feel any safer? If you do, then a course of EST would be best prescribed to cure you of this insanity, because your thinking is just that. Insane. You have the gall and the bombast to label me and anyone else hippie liberals because we can see the moronic thinking behind your stance, and then you rant and rave because no one is listening. If you want us to listen, stop acting like such a f*****g imbecile and wake up to the fact that all this paranoid behaviour is just making a bigger laughing stock out of you than you think. Believe it or not, but 95% or the world think your country is a joke. if you want us to take you seriously, stop this BS now.

When you really come down to it, this is what I think of your attitude on why you need weapons....

Then you have lost your right to be respected. If you cannot respect other's opinions, I see no reason why I should respect yours.

I could suggest that you all grab hold of a weapon and commit mass suicide, but a dickhead like you can't see the f*****g sarcasm. I SHALL SAY WHATEVER THE f**k I LIKE HERE, AND I PERSONALLY DON'T CARE WHETHER YOU GET UPSET AND GO INTO A f*****g TIZZY BECAUSE IT UPSET YOU. EVERYBODY OUTSIDE A-FUCKING-MERICA COULDN'T GIVE A RAT'S ARSE IF YOU BLEW YOURSELVES TO KINGDOM COME! ONE LESS f****d UP NATION WOULD BE BETTER FOR US ALL....

Now that I've said that, I think you are the most brainless f**kwit that I've ever come across on the internet, and it really surprised me that you got the education to be able to write a sentence, let alone talk in a forum like this. Now STFU, YOU STUPID GIT.

PS: I don't f*****g care if you complain, it'll just prove how much of a Wally you really are.

Do a lot of Americans own ground to air missiles and rocket propelled grenades? Mortars? Field Pieces? Tanks? Helicopter gunships? Carrier battle groups?

Dont see how small arms are going to help if the government really does want to oppress you. Nations with WHOLE armies have failed to stop american military force, the sledgehammer that it is. I doubt that the residents of Nowhere, Indiana are going to be able to stop a battleready veteran marine division.

(And its not often I cite the prowess of the american military, but it does tend towards the large and well equipped.)

I seem to recall a video I saw of a nutter who stole a tank from a national guard armoury.. and there was jackshit the authorities could do about it, armed as they are with small arms. Koresh had a whole building full of weaponry, and there was precious little he could do to stop the Bradleys. History is littered with cases of "the people" rising up against governments, and mostly getting ten bells of s**t kicked out of them, as soon as an armoured division turns up.

So, unless a lot of americans have private collections of anti-tank rockets, you're pretty f****d when the tanks roll..

Essentially, this legislation was written way back when the main differences between a civilian and a military man were a uniform, discipline, and maybe some cannon if you were lucky.. bit of cavalry maybe. A civilian militia COULD in theory rise up and overthrow the government, as happened in the Revolutionary war. Even the continental army was equipped in the same fashion and trained in a similar way to the british.

Back then it makes sense to allow for this sort of eventuality.. but the people writing these things wre unlikely to have forseen anything as overwhelming as an Abhrams or Apache. It probably never occured to them that a military could be so much better equipped, with such potent tools, that the populace wouldnt stand a chance against them.

With that in mind, the whole line about keeping guns to defend yourself against the government becomes a little pointless.

There seems to be a lot of inmaturity here, including myself I guess.

I actually don't understand that, why a few people would need to fight any government with guns? When there are peaceful ways to make a voice and be heard. People doing that would end up either dead themselves or in prison. That argument doesn't make any sense.

'The pen is mightier than the sword' is one of the best quotes I have ever heard, and it is the perfect answer. If people are upset with the way things are run, then they should write their MP, Senator, Congressman.... and maybe even consider introducing a Private Member's Bill through parliament to get something done. Rather than have a futile attempt at revolution with a bunch of useless weapons, they can use Bills and Legislation to force change. No-one gets killed, and a much desirable result is achieved.

You have no right to call me blind and ignorant, because all your doing is taking YOUR short-comings and reversing them and playing them on me as a mental defense mechanism. I've seen this tactic a thousand times before.
I give you facts, you ignore them. That is ignorance. Ignoring facts because they don't comply with your emotional view is ignorance. So before you go calling people ignorant, learn what ignorance means and take a good long hard look at yourself.
Furthermore, just because I believe in defending myself does not mean I believe in murder. I've already stated there is a difference between responsible gun ownership and irresponsible gun ownership. So once again, your being ignorant.
