The Adam & Eve part is rather crucial, even if it's just a story. It's a symbolic rendering of some very big ideas. Genesis has great meaning for me even though I don't insist on it as literal happening. Works easier that way. Less strain on the brain if you're content not to literalize it.

 na, he seems alright. I'd say the ones that get beat up are probably the quietest ones or the nerds.

How about the one who go out of their way to be irritating?

This thread bores me.

No one is going to change anyone else's mind on this issue.

I'll believe in or renounce God when someone on either side gives me some actual evidence for the existence or nonexistence of said deity.

people like that might get a beating, but the quiet nerds are more likely to get bullied, sadly. But this is a discussion thread, and its about religion, I think its normal for people to want to score points. And to be honest I find people who make 50 line posts "irritating".

For me, it's easier to read it as:

Genesis 1:1 - 2:3 = The account God gave to Adam.
Genesis 2:4 - 4:26 = Adam's account.
Genesis 5:1 - 5:32 = Noah's genealogy.
Genesis 6:1 - 9:29 = Noah and his sons' account of the Flood.
Genesis 10:1 - 11:9 Shem's account.
Genesis 11:10 -11:32 Terah's account, edited by descendant to include approximate age of Shem's death.

You may call me ignorant for reading if you like. Reading is a sin in this world. XD

People who respond to pointed questions of their convictions with physical violence obviously have no intellectual comeback. Their strong irritation is a clear indication that important points have been made that made them severely uncomfortable about holding views they cannot justify in any other manner.

You can't provide evidence for non existence! That's a logical paradox.

This is the thing most theists and many agnostics don't seem to understand.

I am agnostic but I do not believe in god. This does not mean I think god does or doesn't exist. The very idea of god is nonsensical and should be explained before any judgment can be made on his existence or non-existence.

I am reminded of the lead-up to the Iraq war, when Shrub was insisting that Hussein "prove that he had no weapons of mass destruction..."

Could Hussein prove that he never had chemical or biological weapons launched at Israel?

Well, that is because you are a boring person, Miss um... er.... Pickwickian(clever things escape me at the moment)

Well, the only reason that is, is because the Inquisition hasn't started up yet. When that starts, people WILL recant!

Boom! All of the proof of God's existence you need!! It converted me, it can convert you too!

Well, actually, you could depending upon how the being is defined. Arguing from the problem of evil for instance is a well-noted attempt to provide evidence for the non-existence of God.

8O Well, that disproved my faith in God. Good job, iamnotaparakeet, ever think of joining the other team? You've already had practice!!
