New Prime Minister for the UK?
Sorry this sounds so shallow and superficial, but it will be nice to have a British PM who is presentable again. I'm fed up with being represented by a haystack who looks like he brushes his hair with a balloon
All the candidates at least LOOK normal and not embarrassing.
This shows how low my expectations of the PM now are- to look presentable ![]()

His appearance was very bizarre, I think it was part of his act.
He tried very hard to imitate Churchill he even had a kind of curvature of his back when he walked, that was similar. Also his hands behind his back a lot of the time reminded of Churchill
Was it genuine or faked, probably faked but who knows, Unlike Churchill I don’t think he’ll be remembered long.

Yes, he put on this act of 'eccentric, jolly British chap' and unfortunately it fooled a lot of the voters. It is still fooling them. But underneath he is self serving and clever, and totally uncaring about anyone but himself. The number of ex wives and illegitimate children he's got everywhere, he doesn't even know how many children he's got. He abandoned all his wives and children for the new ones.

100%.
He has spent years perfecting the 'Boris' character (its known that his friends and family call him Al, short for Alexander) to try and convince people of his eccentricities, but its an act. A few journalists have said that when they are going to interview him on telly they will have make up and hair people as standard, they do their job on him, he looks presentable, and as the countdown starts to begin filming he will undo his tie a little and puts his hand up on his head and messes his hair up. Its all very intentional. There was also a great story about how he pretended to accidentally walk through a room full of journalists about to interview someone else, he walked in, pretended he was lost, muttered a few pretend Mr Bean style noises, then threw his hands up in a 'oh well, I am Boris after all' effect, but he had misjudged it and got there too early, no one was filming anything yet. When he realised what he had done he got really angry at them, shouted at them and stormed out
This is a long story, but really sums him up https://reaction.life/jeremy-vine-my-boris-story/

Ugh, isn't it cynical and self serving. Can't believe people fall for it...

How do these people get into power in the first place? Beggars belief.
I think it's partly fallout from the Brexit civil wars within the Conservative party. Johnson sidelined or even expelled many experienced politicians who crossed swords with him. He then formed a Cabinet from what was left: people whose main qualification was that they wouldn't argue with him. Unfortunately, that was a collection of cranks, yes-men and work-experience kids who weren't really up to the job of running ministries.

I think you're right. It's dictator-style leadership isn't it.
The final lot of resignations showed this too. When Johnson appointed his last Cabinet, many MPs said they woke up that morning not thinking they'd be Cabinet Ministers, only to go into work to find they were the Minister for Education, or something!
The newest Cabinet was full of people no one had heard of

It's not shallow at all. The whole point of Johnsons image was to fool people into thinking that he's one of us, one of the working men and women of the country. He made himself into a clown to do this. That tells me what he thinks of the working men and women.
The man is nothing like the majority of us. He's a multi millionaire for a kick off. He went to one of the poshest schools in the world. He's well known for mocking people like us.
It gets me how people are still crying that he's gone.
I don't want any tory to lead this country but I'm just so glad that it's not gonna be him anymore.

That's quite funny. I knew if I didn't write that it was shallow, someone would pop up to say 'the UK's falling apart and you worry about how our PM looks? That's the wrong priority.'
He's a horrible man, I don't know why people fall for his lies and nonsense. He got that journalist beaten up didn't he. Among other things he's done.

I never trusted Boris for competence or integrity, but it took 3 years for public opinion to accept that I was right. He was a little Trump - an arrogant right-wing populist in it for his own advancement. The only difference I noticed was that Boris had some command of the English language and was able to sound almost intelligent at times. And the only thing I liked about him was that he had become a toxic brand for the Tory party and would have led them to defeat in the next election. The only reason he increased the energy bill relief was because he wanted to buy some popularity back after the Partygate scandal.
I mean, what can you think about a bloke who's on TV every night giving Covid advice when he caught it himself by his own stupidity?
He kept calling Brexit "the will of the people" but opinion polls always showed that the public were evenly split on the issue, and the Brexiteers only won the referendum by a slim majority after Cummings' dishonest brainwashing campaign. In such circumstances it was hostile to half the population to "get Brexit done" as they put it. When you know that opinion is divided on an issue, you look for a compromise that doesn't completely disenfranchise swathes of people.
Not that I have any faith in the candidates that hope to replace him either. Tories just don't want to redistribute the money even though the rich-poor divide is worse than ever. But there's nobody to vote for in any party who would do anything to civilise the UK's jungle society. They're only interested in business and competition.
I agree with you ToughDiamond.
There was Russian interference in Brexit too though. The rubbish coming out of the Russian mouths at this time of the Ukraine invasion is exactly the same rubbish that is spouted by Brexiteers. e.g. Nigel Farage and Sergei Lavrov sound the same! ![]()

a huge restructuring of the political systems, most of which will hugely damage british businesses and the economy, all because one person wanted to feel important. Still angers me now.
Brexit? That self-harming farce still infuriates me, too.
Hey - here's a good idea: let's sever all commercial ties with the massive trading bloc right on our doorstep - you know, the one we've been trading with for 40-odd years on a single unified set of rules and standards, and then demand that they follow our rules and standards.
Wow, great idea! But how do we sell it to the masses?
Well lies, obviously - and chuck in some patriotic waffle about blue passports and sovereignty. That should do it.
And do you know, boys and girls - to the shame of us all, it worked...

You hit the nail on the head there! I could tell you the stupid reasons people gave me for why they voted for Brexit...

It's also given the Tories a free hand to ignore human rights. The EU is a centre-left organisation. It was far from perfect but at least it helped to temper the right wing machinations of the UK government here and there. And I've not seen any benefit from leaving yet. The whole venture seems to be based on the myth that the UK would do much better if the superior British master race broke free from the restrictive, bureaucratic yoke of those silly foreigners who never do anything right.
But hey, we can have blue passports now. We might even get a UK crown on our beer glasses, though the EU never tried to stop that as far as I know. And we nearly got a special chiming of Big Ben on glorious Brexit Day, only nobody wanted to pay for it so it didn't happen.
