It's not "paranoid behavior" so much as it is not being overly egotistical and acknowledging the facts. I don't see myself as some sort of cosmic miracle that the universe revolves around, I don't watch ER and say "that can never happen to me", because I am down to earth enough not to try and make myself an exception, what can happen to one person can just as easily happen to me.
Problem is, people like you are so full of themselves that you CAN'T believe your not some cosmic miracle that the universe revolves around, you ARE one of those people that watch ER and tells yourself the same thing can never happen to you.
No amount of proof is going to open your mind, you don't care about the truth, you only care about your little security blanket delusion that you live in. You try to live in a make believe world where everything is sunshine and lolly pops, go ahead but don't argue about the real world with me, just stay inside your little fantasy and wrap up tight in your little security banket, forget the real world even exists, and just leave us alone.

Essentially, this legislation was written way back when the main differences between a civilian and a military man were a uniform, discipline, and maybe some cannon if you were lucky.. bit of cavalry maybe. A civilian militia COULD in theory rise up and overthrow the government, as happened in the Revolutionary war. Even the continental army was equipped in the same fashion and trained in a similar way to the british.

Back then it makes sense to allow for this sort of eventuality.. but the people writing these things wre unlikely to have forseen anything as overwhelming as an Abhrams or Apache. It probably never occured to them that a military could be so much better equipped, with such potent tools, that the populace wouldnt stand a chance against them.

With that in mind, the whole line about keeping guns to defend yourself against the government becomes a little pointless.

I actually don't understand that, why a few people would need to fight any government with guns? When there are peaceful ways to make a voice and be heard. People doing that would end up either dead themselves or in prison. That argument doesn't make any sense.

Indeed. It makes no sense now in the face of overwhelming military superiority.. but back in the day, it was much more feasible.

Rather than have a futile attempt at revolution with a bunch of useless weapons, they can use Bills and Legislation to force change. No-one gets killed, and a much desirable result is achieved.

What facts? Where? I don't see any facts that you've quoted. All I see are some misguided and drunken ramblings about why a bunch of civilians would want to own guns in a civilized society where every indication points to it being not only dangerous but futile as well. You have a police force to fight crime, do you not? You are not a bunch of vigilantes fighting the wild west because someone stole some of your cattle and made off with your crops. If you had nukes or tanks as my good British friend said, your army would still roll right over the top of you and leave you in a bloody flattened heap. Your law is antiquated and was written for a time when you may have needed to fight battles etc, but TIMES HAVE CHANGED and like it or not, CIVILIZATION does not carry on like it did back then. If you cannot open your eyes and realise this, then whetever deity help you ***IF*** your government does decide to go for you (not that they care about your pissy little ass), because all your right wing crap about stopping them isn't going to mean Jack. You would more than likely be the guy trying to climb the tank in Tienanmen Square, and what a f*****g futile waste of time that was. Now grow up, and stop making a fool out of yourself.

I wonder if you are actually a gangsta or not. For having a strongly opinion on this and defending it, with guns if possible. :P

What society needs is more education instead of more guns. Children need to grow in a safe and healthy environment, with no violence. I know this isn't always possible for now, but governments all over the world should work and plan on solving that by other means and thinking of the future, Education, no guns, what kind of thinking is for you the best for a child that is growing up? That killing is ok? The lack of respect of human life is ok, as it has been said? No wonder a lot of shootings on schools and similar stuff that have happened in some places lately.

One problem I see here is when it comes to aspies and their obsessions, when the obsession is fire arms, that worries me. There must be ways to handle that I suppose to avoid potential problems in this case. That is one of many other reasons I am not pleased with the idea of anyone having the "right" to own a gun.

I don't care for the whole violence-against-government bit, but that is not the point. It's not always a necessity to carry a weapon, most of the time it isn't, but there are times when it's better to be safe than sorry. America has given its people the right to own them and use them in designated areas or for self-defense. Is it right for rights to be taken away from the people?

Self defense is a pretty crappy excuse.
The amendment is there so that the people
have some way to resist oppression.

And, without allowing communities to buy
the best military hardware (up to nukes)
it just isn't going to work.

That is such a typical ignorant LIBERAL thing to say, oh I must a beligerant gangster because I don't believe I should give the government free reign to take over by giving up my right to resist oppression.
Dude you are just a stupid little fa***t liberal f**ktard. Your too ignorant to fathom ideas other than your own, it's f*****g insulting that your making accusations against me because I support a right which is there to protect the ****CITIZENS**** from oppression.

Really?

“Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense.”—John Adams.

That might be true if there were fewer guns in the United States, but there are more than 250,000,000 privately owned firearms in the country. That's quite a bit of dissuasion.
Edit: That's just an estimate, I rather suspect it's higher.

Snake, you're not helping, try to tone it down a little.

Well rather I have those weapons or not, a mere hand gun would be better than nothing. I mean, without any gun people could likely get rounded up into prison camps, gulags, or death camps, where they will die slowly and painfully. Atleast if I have a gun to fight back with, they'll have to fire at me and more than likely kill me with a bullet to the head which will more likely give me a fast painless death, rather than a slow painful one I'd face if I were captured in such a state.
I do think that America should reinstate mandatory duty for all able-bodied men in the citizen militia, and those militias should be funded. They should be reactionary, not proactionary, and the national guards don't count because they are under the control of the federal government.

Best not to threaten or curse out the opposition, we've already got the superior logical argument, why debase ourselves?

Yeah, I know your right.... It just pisses me off when they resort to making accusations against me and calling me names because they can't put up a logical argument.

See, that's the ability of being an individual, your not emotionally attached to someone else's ideas, your willing to analyze and accept facts as an individual without these stupid labels getting in the way and clouding your judgement.
