As to the religious right's involvement in such dirty dealings that hurt our elderly citizens, I think that alone answers the initial question of this thread.

Research to create life saving medications cost a lot of money, I'm sorry if you want things to be cheap, but the Drug companies have to have the money to pay for the research into new medications.

What pandabear said.
As a matter of fact, I fully understand that medicines aren't researched and made on the cheap, but no one can say that the pharmaceutical companies aren't sticking it to the American public.
And if prescriptions and medical care are going to be so pricey, then that's all the more reason why we should have universal healthcare.

You know...
Aw, there has to be. I mean, there are after all gay and black Republicans.
Why they'd be Republicans, though, is beyond me.

I'm sure that almost all of them are closeted Atheists.

I have. He was rather ashamed of the direction his party of choice took, which he chose due to his economic leanings. He dislikes the Teabaggers and evangelicals but is unwilling to vote Democrat. I recall him saying he will either not vote or spoil his ballot until the Republicans splinter into a reasonable conservative party and the rest join the Teabaggers on a long quest to become little more than a humorous footnote in history

At the very least, those Republicans who are scornful toward the needs of the poor, and who see material wealth as a sign of God's grace may in fact lack true faith, despite making great public show of their "pious" beliefs.

We have a problem with Gay Marriage that does not mean we're advocating rounding up and throwing homosexuals in camps or something outrageous like that, the left seriously need to grow up.

The African Americans whom have joined the Republican party have done so, because they figured out Democrats are just using African Americans to get into office, Republicans think judging someone by their skin color is just plain stupid.

Republicans openly boo gay soldiers simply for being gay.

Racism isn't just about skin color; it never has been.

Seriously, I would have an issue if I thought the guy in the bunk below me or above me was potentially sexually attracted to me, okay. There is a rule against fraternization in the military already, how would that work with homosexuals? Did you stop and consider that?

Probably the same way it works with heterosexuals right now.

edit, personal story: I started training in Aikido about 11 years ago. After I'd been training for about 3 months, it came up in a casual conversation with another student that one of the female black belts was a lesbian. My first reaction, which lasted about 5 seconds, was, "Oh my god! I've been changing in front of a lesbian!" My second reaction was that, if her behavior was so non-threatening and polite that I hadn't even known that she was gay, that I had nothing whatsoever to complain about.
I'm still friends with her, and with several other gay women whom I train with as well. It's not a big deal.

What LKL said.

Gay Americans are just that, Americans, and they shouldn't be treated as second class citizens, regardless if you think their sex lives are an affront to God.
And as for racism; I never said that all Republicans are racist - no, by no means - but Republicans have gone on record as denying that racism is a major social problem in this country. While this has allowed racists to justify their own idiocy by providing them cover, it also has allowed the Republicans to appear to be the party of white privilege, devoid of of sensitivity toward the black experience. Remember, when Herman Cain had complained about how Rick Perry's ranch had been called N*$^#rhead Ranch, Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives had jumped all over him for being offended. Those blacks who are Republicans are either those who have gotten theirs financially, and now feel no need to look back, or are just too religiously conservative for their own good, as far as I can figure.

Oh for crimony's sake!
You conservatives are so sure that gays think of nothing but sex 24/7. As a matter of fact, there have always been gays serving in the military, and I know of very few instances of homosexual rape. If anything, servicewomen are in more danger of being raped or at least harassed by their male counterparts.

I've also met gay people that were very nice. As long as you explicitly make it known that you are not interested in a romantic relationship with them due to your own preferences, and that you show as much respect for the person as you would any other, it's not hard to get along.

I'm dumbfounded that someone on the spectrum, who may fall victim to discrimination not unlike homosexuals are, would chose to side against them than with them, knowing that tolerance & respect of difference is a mutual goal that we are hoping to further (and dare I say, of most people who are listed as "abnormal").

Then why are they trying to push homosexuality in classrooms.

Darling, they're pushing tolerance in the classrooms. You can't push a straight kid gay any more than you can push a gay kid straight.

Exactly!
I find it so completely unbelievable that people claiming to be Christians would rather see gay kids bullied into suicide because they believe that tolerating homosexuality is somehow such an abomination.
