That's a pretty broad brush, hun.

(I do appreciate your comments about custody, though.)

are you attempting to be ironic by calling me "hun" in a discussion about feminism and equality?

if so, i'm not laughing.

words like 'honey," "sweetie," and "dear" are known as 'diminutives.'
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/diminutive
When used by a friend or family member, the 'familiarity and affection' is emphasized; when used by a stranger or opponent, the 'lesser than' is emphasized. It's basically a way of saying, 'I don't have to recognize your actual status and treat you formally,' either because you're a family member/close friend or because the speaker does not respect you.

Exactly. When I use a word like that on these forums, I mean it as an insult.

What…you mean women in power turning on their own? I've heard stories of women who supposedly "broke" the glass ceiling being utterly horrible to female subordinates. And don't get me started on Hillary Clinton...

Yeah, I have an aunt who's a vice president at the state's largest health care system. She's a gem :)

:?:

I thought that you were flirting.

Well, I'll take as a flirt, even if you dish it out as an insult.

Lots of women that work at the local stores will call their customers honey or sweetie, they are not flirting, but being friendly. It's a cultural thing here.
My ex tried it on a cop,she didn't like being called honey instead of officer. It didn't go good for him later,he got tazed.

Northern Upper Class White Feminist chicks do tend to get offended by that stuff. One does have to be very careful with them.

This is my last attempt to make you realise that you don't know how wrong you are.

Many people have a preconception of others based on the clothes they wear. In fact, we all have those preconceptions. It doesn't mean we actualy and consciously believe that every person who doesn't dress well is poor, or that a person who has good taste in clothing is physically better looking. But the fact is that it's an impulsive judgement everybody has. What distinguishes good people from bad people is what we do with those impulses.

By the way, I'm not seeing you, or any other woman _ or man _ outraged with my misandry. Shouldn't that be of concern to you, an impartial and vulcan-like deffender of equal rights?

What does any of that, even if it were all true, or all true about me, have to do with using diminutives on strangers?
