Is your Dad licenced and is the air rifle registered? You know under Victorian Law (other States are supposed to be uniform but there are differences) this is a criminal offence and he faces 5 years in jail!

Don't laugh, there was a busker in Melbourne who used a toy gun in an act. It looked realistic (not a replica, but a toy he bought in a kids toy shop) he was arrested and a Magistrate found him guilty. Potential jail time of 5 years, but he was let off with a fine. I am serious.

I have a tiny, just a tiny, comfort that Australia is even more of a coward country than Sweden. Here an air rifle is free unless it has an hit energy of more than 10J/cm2 or a muzzle velocity of more than 200 m/s (about 6000f/s). And you wouldn't get 5 years even for having an illegal machine gun, if you weren't attending to make a bank robbery or something like that.

I've expended virtually all my available intelligence trying to counter your arguments in a reasonable manner, so I'll just use a rather immature one instead. You ever watch the "Mythbusters" segment on "Salsa Escape"? Partway through it, Jamie Hyneman tells Adam Savage "Think, then act, don't act, then think." Savage then puts his fingers in front of his mouth like Hyneman's moustache and goes "Nenenenenener."

That's what I am doing right now at you, Litigious.

And how dare you call Australia a cowardly country. I have a lot more call to name Sweden cowardly because of its neutrality, but I won't.

Should you impugn me, Australia, or my opinion on gun controls once more, I will let you, and only you, have it with both barrels of my opinion of you and your thirst for guns, as your reasons aren't as reasoned as Bazza's, or even as sentimental value as DaveB78 wishes. I also do not like hypermind's treatment of you, but I will no longer condemn him if you continue...

I thought all anglosaxon countries were braver than Sweden, until I found out of the UK and Australian gun laws.

Yeah the Aussie fought alot wars with the US so their no cowards. The US has
the second admendment and a powerfull lobby the NRA (consider second only to the
pro-Israeli lobby). So comparing which countries with strong gun control are more
coward is not usefull. The nature of government is to take power away from people and give it to the government. That happens eevrywhere and in the US. But in the case of gun control in the US its at a slower rate than the other first world countries.

We mostly fight wars with the enemy, ha ha ha.

Actually, most of the time, historically (the two World Wars) we have fought mostly because of Britain pulling us in, rather than the USA...

I know, but I'm personally the type of guy that would kill as much government people as I could, if I considered my rights being seriously trodden upon. It'd be very hard to get the means to do so effectively in Sweden but very easy in the US.

I would of course die myself in such a situation, but I (hope that I) would feel like I lost the battle but that the war would once be won.

In case anyone is intersted, I just bought a new AR 15 this morning...16 in barrel 1 in 7 twist, BUIS, EoTech 552, rail system and a goodly supply of ammo...the entire transaction was completed in less than half an hour...that is freedom.

8) 5.56/223 Rem? Do they still come in 7.62/308?

M-16 / AR-15 are 5.65 mm some have been mod for 9 mm etc but a 308 version would
be based on completely different parts I think it was AR-10?

A 1 in 7 twist would make the bullet not tumble. That a military barrel design for heavy
AP ammo. 16" barrel thats the carbine with a colapsable stock. Very compact and lite.
Oh the ideal twist is 1 in 14 for a 5.65 mm for non-AP ammo for kill power. But in cold
weather 1 in 12 is more stable so most non-AP barrels have been 1 in 12.

Oh I read a book by Eugene Stoner the designer of the AR-15/M-16. It got a bad rap
in Vietnam. When it was first issued soliders were not given cleaning kits for it!
Machine those slow twist barrels will only stabilize very light bullets...the 55gr. and lighter bullets that were originally made for the 5.56 in its 20 inch configuration..since the shorter barrel versions have come about bullets have become heavier and twists ave become faster...the 1 in 7 is std. on all military issue M4s and variants and 1in 8 is used in the SPR.

By the way, Swedish slang for "balls" isn't "köttbullar" but "ballar". In Danish "baller" means "buttocks" though... 8)

So what? English euphemisms call testicles "meatballs", albeit rarely. I just wanted some cross-cultural understanding, cabron.

Quatermass, I just saw a poor fellow in England writing in another thread that he is sorry that suicide is that difficult. Don't forget the suicide argument for having free guns: quickly and painlessly. Good night.
