So the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years War (more than 8 million dead in the latter) never took place, then? After all, in both cases the war was about the state *enforcing* Catholicism upon its populace.

(and those two are just samples from The European Wars of Religion - several centuries of Christian bloodshed in Europe)

I didn't see any evidence that the Catholic church ever killed anyone or started a war with anyone. Those wars were started by kings of the countries they ruled, not by the Catholic church. Your own link from the pagan encyclopedia you quoted says Protestant states started the war and the war mostly wasn't about religion. The Catholic church is in charge of nourishing people's souls and doesn't kill anyone or start wars with anyone.

The Hussites didn't just practice their religion. They went around deceiving people about Christianity, claiming the perverse and twisted doctrines they invented were the teaching of Christ and tried to corrupt society with their wicked doctrines. If they had been honest and said they were starting a new religion to compete with Christianity instead of slandering Christ and didn't try to destroy public order I don't think they would have had any problems. Slander may not seem like a big deal in cultures that don't value honesty but it's a big deal for those who love the truth and understand the harm it can cause. Given the Christian teaching that the wicked who live in disobedience of God's law go to Hell for eternity, it's extremely immoral to twist what God has revealed. It's worse than being a serial killer. Murderers only kill people's bodies but false preachers and other slanderers of God's word help send souls to Hell. If murderers are executed, then what should happen to those who commit crimes that are worse than murder?

That's nice dear. Hey, what do you think about the Catholic Church covering up the crimes of catholic priests who were molesting young children?

Does this seem familiar?

"They didn't sexually molest those children;
And if they did, it was consensual;
And if it wasn't, the children didn't suffer;
And if they did, it's no big deal;
And if it is, others have done worse."

I call them apologists. Those who defend sexual predators. I think they are just as bad.

That's nice dear. Hey, what do you think about the Catholic Church covering up the crimes of catholic priests who were molesting young children?

It's fake news spread by enemies of Christianity to slander the church. First, the Catholic Church is a holy institution that can't cover up crimes. That's because any sinful behavior is caused by people in the church, not by the church itself. Those individuals, not the church, are responsible for their own behavior. Second, any individuals engaging in or enabling immoral behavior are acting in direct opposition to Catholic teaching. It's not fair to blame God and the church He founded for the sins of people who deliberately disobey His teaching. Third, objective, unbiased evidence has revealed that 90% of the accusations against priests are false. Most of the 10% the might be true are unproven so what you're alleging happened is extremely rare and almost all of the alleged crimes were from 30, 40, or 50 years ago. Almost no one claimed to be harmed by a priest during the last 20 years. There is no safer place for children than in the Catholic Church.

I realize I'm probably wasting my time explaining this since facts and evidence don't mean much to many people in the 21st century. Too many people prefer to think with their emotions and attack everyone they don't like without a shred of evidence. The deadly sin of pride is the biggest problem today. Submitting to God's Holy Catholic church is the solution to the problems facing the world today.

The Catholic Church can be interpreted as Holy Institution Led By Holy Spirit but you can't deny there is also a layer of earthly organization called Catholic Church - which, as any earthly organization, is prone to systematic issues.

Almost all the Catholic priests I know personally are okay. But if 99.9% are more or less okay but that 1 per 1000 who do evil things go on unpunished, we have a systematic issue.

What's important is the actions of priests and bishops are irrelevant when it comes to the claim of the Catholic church to be founded by God whose teaching comes from God and is preserved from error. Blaming the Catholic church and claiming it's a false church or that it's teaching is wrong because a few of its members acted in opposition to Catholic teaching is the equivalent of blaming the Bible when Protestants disobey it.

That sin exists among bishops and priests in the Catholic church is hardly a revelation. There have been sinners in the church from the beginning. I think one pope murdered several cardinals and a few others lived very immoral lifestyles. None of that is an argument against the claim of the Catholic church that its teaching comes from God.

As far as a National Religion is concerned, there is probably far less sin among leaders in the Catholic church than among school teachers and secular governments so the accusations against the Catholic church aren't a valid argument against making Christianity a state religion.

It does seem familiar. It reminds me of the Salem witch trials. People who thought with their emotions accused people of witchcraft and had them executed. People who used their brains to think pointed out the errors in their reasoning. They were accused by emotional thinkers of defending the witches and executed. History shows the rational thinkers were right. Those accused of being witches didn't engage in witchcraft. And if they did, no one was harmed. And if there was any harm, it wasn't a big deal because there was little or no evidence for most of the serious accusations against them.

Do you have a problem with slander? For example, do you think it should be legal for me to go on TV and falsely claim you raped me and tried to kill me? If not, slandering a religion harms everyone who follows that religion so the harm is much greater. I think it would also be wrong to deceive people about Islam.

I couldn't care less if anyone disagrees with my religious views. I don't think that should be a crime at all.

Do you believe in freedom of religion? Do you think Christians should be allowed to decline baking a cake to celebrate an immoral lifestyle? Would you be opposed to a $100,000 fine for not catering to their lifestyle if they claimed the Christian who wouldn't bake them a cake hurt their feelings?

Do you think it should be legal for people to sacrifice their children to idols if that's what their religion teaches? Should followers of radical "Islamic" sects be allowed to kill Jews if their sect tells them they should?

If I owned a business,which I did about 8 years ago,I would serve gays,no problem there at all.

I agree though that a private business in a free society with freedom of religion has the right to curtail customer's if a said customer is in serious conflict with there sincere held religious belief's.

OK, now I am confused... So the Hussites - who disagreed with the religious views of the Catholic Church (and you, I presume) - are OK after all?
