This thread is no longer about News and Current Events. It has become very political and I request this thread be moved to Politics, Philosophy, and Religion (PPR) where it belongs.

^ Done, but please - instead of relying on a moderator driving by and catching your request, it's more efficient if you PM one of us or post it here.

[b[What is a “China*s*” ? :? Who was put in their place?

Google doesn’t show any results for “China*s”.

Paging cyberdad. He’s Australian and can maybe translate this.

It's Chinese

:chin:

So the. Why didn’t he write “Chinese” ? :?

Somehow I don’t think “China*s” has an asterisk in it because it’s a respectful label for Chinese citizens. Seems like a derogatory name referencing Chinese people. Amiright?

Perhaps we should ask Retrogamer. He’s Australian and has a Chinese girlfriend/mother to his child. I bet he would be able to shed some light on this.

There's no need. It's derogatory.

So you have forgotten about my post about the cee cee pee creating a list of people, Australians included, who criticises China*?

Mate. :shameonyou:

Seriously, are you trying to force me off this website, also, as happened with Tempus Fugit?
I'm not even a Liberal party voter.
I hate big business.
I have always thought trump was a narcissistic ninny. 8O

If all the conservatives and centrists are harassed out of WP, who will you guys hate against?
Serious question.

As long as there is an even playing field that allows me to match the tenor of people attacking me, I won't be leaving any time soon.

I can live without your friendship.
Shall we call it quits? 8O

How is it trying to force you off this website by confirming that what you posted was a derogatory slur against Chinese people? :?

If you get banned, it’s because of your posts, no one else’s. If you leave because others don’t embrace derogatory slurs with open arms, that’s your choice, not anyone forcing you to leave.

Same same for that other guy who decided on his own to leave.

I haven’t reported your post, btw. Much prefer the idea of a “teachable moment,” and the lesson in this discussion is that derogatory slurs against people for their race/nationality/ethnicity aren’t exactly cool nor should they be something others have to read or be subjected to or even have to raise a concern about via objecting to them or reporting them to mods. They simply have no place on this forum. Shouldn’t really have a place in any of our vocabularies, for that matter, either.

On an Autism forum? Whatever next?

That could simply be taken as "showing good reasoning", especially as a Mod has specifically enforced exactly the same interpretation.

You're always very keen to claim a balanced perspective but that 'balance' is still subject to context and personal bias. What if your compromise mid-point is somewhere around the political stance of Ghenghis Khan? Then you'd constantly be feeling persecuted by the "far left" when actually, they're not that far left and also behaving more rationally than you think. It feeds straight into the "tortured independent thinker, persecuted by heathens" theme you often pedal. At the end of the day your efforts to police debate in order to virtue signal about your own unique standpoint is a strategy that only works for you - nobody else has to pay it any heed.

By all means point out BS but recognise your own, too. Smugness has never persuaded anyone to change their mind about anything - it's far more likely to cause doubling-down. And I'm sure you know that, but do it anyway just so you can be outraged, even though that was the whole idea. Which is exactly the sort of "woke" behaviour you'd instantly object to if anyone else did it.

A case in point was the example earlier in this thread where I said any Trump supporters blaming his opponents for all the trouble he's caused because they'd 'triggered' his more unhinged side, were effectively gaslighting. It is equivalent to blaming a domestic abuse victim for the actions of their attacker. "Not his fault, you knew what would happen if the dinner wasn't ready on time, so you deserved it". Note the wording. Any Trump supporters who believe this. So if you DON'T believe it, by definition the comment isn't aimed at you, is it? Didn't stop you trying to make it all about you, though, just so you could get huffy about it, despite your refined reasoning skills.

1) In the first stage of the condition, victims lose all sense of proportion.  Fnord's every post provokes a firestorm, as if one post is all it takes to change their world.

2) The mid-level stages of FDS have a profound effect on the victim's vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting solely of hyperbole and conjecture.

3) As FDS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.

FDS is the knee-jerk opposition from others to anything and everything Fnord posts.  If Fnord announced he was donating every dollar he has ever made, FDS sufferers would suggest he was up to something nefarious, according to the logic of FDS.  There is nothing -- not one thing -- that Fnord could do or say that would be received positively by FDSers.

The title of this thread "Armed protests planned in all 50 states".

So what actually occurred?
Far-left riots erupt in Seattle and Portland on inauguration day

Police declared an unlawful assembly Wednesday night in Portland, Oregon, after about 150 rioters caused damage to a federal immigration facility in the city, according to the authorities. The unrest near the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) building was declared after rioters started throwing rocks and eggs, and vandalizing the building, located in the city's south waterfront neighborhood. "We have observed property damage to the building," the Portland Police Bureau wrote on Twitter. "Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including: vandalism and graffitting is subject to arrest or citation." Individuals were seen carrying pepper ball guns, electronic control weapons (similar to stun guns) -- shields, fireworks, and rocks. He added that federal law enforcement used "crowd-control munitions."

Seattle, Washington witnessed property damage and objects hurled at cars; reporters said demonstrators were protesting against President Biden and law enforcement, and carried a sign reading, "Abolish ICE."

In Denver, protesters burned an American flag in separate demonstrations that reportedly involved members of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as others who chanted anti-Trump and anti-Biden slogans.

Authorities said earlier gatherings in Portland -- which saw Antifa protesters clash with authorities as they gathered to voice dissatisfaction with President Biden, forcing officers to retreat and taking at least one police bicycle -- had ended. The Portland Police Bureau said several events were planned in the city just hours after Biden was sworn in and implored the nation to come together. About 150 people gathered at Revolution Hall around 2 p.m. and marched to the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Oregon. The so-called J20 protest was a demonstration against Biden and law enforcement. Some in the group smashed windows and vandalized the building with graffiti. Calls and messages to the party headquarters were not immediately returned.

When the group left the area and marched to a nearby park, police officers made "targeted arrests" in connection to the damage at the local Democratic Party headquarters. The group later dispersed. In total, eight adults were arrested for crimes ranging from rioting and possession of a destructive device to reckless burning. The suspects' ages ranged from 18 to 38. At one point when officers on bicycles entered the crowd to tell someone to remove metal poles affixed to a banner that could be used as a weapon, they were swarmed and pelted with objects. People in the crowd started blocking or stopping officers as they attempted to leave, police said. Officers deployed a smoke canister in an effort to safely leave the area. Authorities warned the group they did not have a permit to march or remain on the sidewalk. The crowd eventually moved west, with some people blocking a freeway on-ramp, police said. Dumpster fires were also lit in the area. Other video clips show people holding banners that read: "We are ungovernable" and "We don't want Biden - We want revenge!" for "Police Murders," "Imperialist Wars" and "Fascist Massacres." Marchers called for an end to the sweeping of homeless encampments and advocated for other social justice causes.

A slight correction though....pepe says "China" which using your suggestion translates to "Chins" which if pepe chooses to continue is still not a great idea - it means he should be saying "China".

I suppose it depends on context.

But if the word is anti-CCP totalitarianism, why wouldn’t Pepe explain that? :?

Seems fishy.

That’s why it’s more plausible, to me, that it’s against a People like the N word.

Hm, I haven't seen that one, but its probably true. I'd avoid it Pepe as its reminiscent of the actual slur.

So, the CCP’s cybercrimes is your justification for using what appears to be a racial slur? :?

I have an interest in using a 'K' instead of using a 'c' because of my German connection.
I believe a 'K' is often used, instead of a 'c' in German spelling, such as in "America'.

I don't ever use "China".
A misleading straw man assertion.
Intended character assassination by you?
I don't think so.

I use "China*" or "China*s*".
The asterisk determines a missing letter or wildcard.

Well, It's name isn't even close to China in Chinese, anyway.... it's Zhōngguó / 中国 / 伤心青蛙不是一个严重的人.
