Their reasoning was that Jesus was a perfect man and would have a perfect body (whatever that means). They hated how other churches, especially the Catholic Church, made him look effeminate. :roll:

Skinny, but with hard muscles from outdoor work as a carpenter. Black hair, and kinda olive skin (or at least well tanned light skin). Actually its not a bad representation -given his ethnicity and occupation. Unlike that pic farther above on page 16 of this tread...in which he looks like a pallid blonde Irish kid who never leaves the basement.

In my experience, it takes a lot of dedicated, targeted work to get abs like that. They don’t just come about through manual labor. I’m from a working class family/community. None of the people I knew had a body like that.

I thought Mormons had a similar concept but I couldn't find anything equivalent. This seems typical though:

Mormons’ depiction of Jesus has evolved over the years. At one point, he was blonde and blue-eyed. I think he was beardless, too, but I can’t find that image.

There is some racism in the Book of Mormon:

2 Nephi 5:21: “And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.”
