there are also a lot of romance novels where the male lead is interested in a partner and not a conquest.
Oh, so
that's what floats your vote. What's your favourite novel?
"The Poisonwood Bible," by Barbara Kingsolver.
"Startide Rising," by David Brin was also very good, as was "Rider at the Gate" by CJ Cherryh.
I'll read pretty much anything by Kingsolver, Brin, or Cherryh.

TL,DR: porn isn't about real sex, and does not represent what most real people (especially women) enjoy in sex.
How would you know?
I read a lot, from resources I trust.

I will quote myself, because of the misrepresentation in several responses to me:

A lot of men out there - even heterosexual men - would rather masturbate than use a prostitute, and don't need degrading porn to do so. (edit: not all porn is degrading, but most of the professional stuff is).
The edit was in before any of the responses to my post. Bolding added.
How is a man supposed to know the kind of pornography to which he is expected to masturbate?
Does the National Organization for Women maintain a list of feminist-approved x-rated videos somewhere?
We're just ignorant men, who are likely to start w*king off whenever we are visually stimulated. How are we supposed to know if feminists consider a particular work to be "degrading" or not?
If you can't figure it out yourself, nothing I say is going to help you.
@Schneekugel: from what I hear, even current porn productions require the administration of large amounts of viagra.
