Just an observation. ;)

That's because most actors are creative open minded people. Gina Carano smashed women's heads for a living.

But there are has been a lot of rioting between people of different politics in the states for the last year, and people got beat up in those riots. So I thought her comparison of being beaten in the streets was accurate based on the riot violence of last year.

Progressives call trump supporters fascists, Nazis, and neo-nazis.
Why is *that* ok, KK?

I don't know, do Trump supporters have a patterned history of; a cult of personality around a single person, national supremacy, the creation of other groups as the enemy, a desire to control mass media, supremacy of the military and obsession with national security, and in general a glorification of tradition with holding up a past that may have never existed? If control of mass media is not obvious, that fits into the Trump tendency to label any news that does not agree with his narrative as fake news, or "Lügenpresse" as the Nazis used it.

I am sure that not every Trump supporter is a fascist, but it is not difficult to see the core traits of the likes of MAGA that are pretty fascist. I don't think it is right to call everyone who is one a fascist, but it is fair to call out a fascist ideology when you see it.

Well she said beaten in the streets, so I thought she was talking about how Jews were beaten in streets, and comparing that to modern day US. I thought that Jewish people were persecuted in other ways besides being imprisonsed and gassed to death, which she was using as an example.

I just feel like people are twisting her words when she describes certain events of persecution, and people seem to be filling it with other events of it, if that makes sense?

It is interesting the number of people who deceitfully twist her words to claim they were about one specific "political view" - many of these same people whining about the post now were happy to refer to those with that "political view" as "nazis" in the past, with none considering that "anti-semitic" even though the use of the term was intended to associate the group with the evils of the "nazi" regime, particularly the holocaust - and not a reflection of how people on all sides are targeted for their political beliefs, as is plain from the words used in the post.

Their issue isn't the words, but the implication (through their own twisting of what was said) that they are personally (and as a group) acting as nazis did.

If a person is complaining about Ms Carano's words now, but did not speak up about others refering to a group as "nazis" (or worse, did this themselves), then their current actions can be considered at best as being hypocritical.

i) Antifa don't count and ii) Andy Ngo is a wannabe Ben Shapiro who was provoking the protestors with nonsense aimed to get a reaction which he then whined about despite being the "agent provocateur"

What does the 45 refer to in your *TRE45ON!!*?

That’s not the point, Pepe.

I don’t condone calling people who are merely conservative Nazis. I find that to be a miscarriage of justice. The Nazi label is only for true Nazis and neo-Nazis.

Trump and Qanon supporters are usually delusional—but very few are actually Nazis. Many conservatives are not Trump/Qanon supporters.

The point is....is that anybody who compares the irritation progressives have with right-wingers with the Nazi treatment of Jews...is throwing a hyperbolic pity party for themselves.

Just like the schoolyard bullies who cry whenever anybody calls them out for their bullying.....and throw a massive pity party for themselves.

i)Antifa members aren't 'progressives'/lefties?
News to me.

ii) Are you saying you think it reasonable to assault someone physically because you are being provoked?

Tell that to Andy Ngo.

It sounds to me as though she was showing the hypocrisy of some on the left of politics.
I have noticed the same, on many occasions.

Some call Antifa 'Left-wing Fascists' because they use the same sort of intimidatory tactics, as an example.

I just hope nobody ascribes a “leftist” ideology to me.

My orientation, politically, is very much along the lines of European Social Democracy. I’m anti-Socialist/Communist. I deplore the Antifa violence.

I do know that had Antifa stormed the Capitol, they would be traitors like the actual Insurrectionists are. It was an attack against America—pure and simple.

“Simples” to use a term often used by Pepe.

What gets me pissed off—is that I’m assumed to be a “leftist” because I call out racism and its history—and just because I attack Trump and his Qanon fruitcakes.

I deplore at least some of PC/Cancel culture. I find it to be paradoxically “regressive” when “progressives” speak of such things as “white privilege.” Some people of the “woke” orientation don’t brook opposition—like fascists don’t brook opposition. Discussion is stifled.

People might refer to Gina Carano's sacking as "cancel culture", but it's just a high-profile example of what's been going on in the US for years and years. It's not a particularly good example, but it is an example.

Ordinary people, on both the right and left, have been losing their jobs in the US over their political opinions for years.

People who keep saying "free speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" or "free speech doesn't mean freedom to be an a**hole" or "private companies can do what they want" just don't seem to get it.

Do you really want to live in a society where ordinary people (factory workers, teachers, doctors, store clerks etc) can lose their livelihoods for expressing their political opinions (be they a right-winger supporting immigration restriction or a left-winger supporting BDS, for example)? Even for expressing those opinions outside of work?

If you can't express your political opinions without fear of losing your livelihood, then the first amendment is virtually worthless.

A rule of etiquette -- in business, at the dinner table, at the barbershop, and elsewhere -- is "Never talk about religion or politics".  These subjects are highly contentious and usually result in heated argument instead of general agreement.  "Never discuss religion or politics with those who hold opinions opposite to yours" has been cited in print since at least 1840.  "Do not discuss politics or religion in general company" is from 1879.

So why do people insist on sharing their opinions on politics to as wide an audience as possible?  It seems to me that when people do this -- knowing that what they say will reach the entire world through every available social medium -- they are just trolling for attention.  If this is a valid assumption on my part, then those people had better be prepared for the bad kind of attention as well as the good.

By now, "Cancel Culture" has insidiously infiltrated every aspect of social life and every media form available.  Any person who expresses a political opinion -- especially an extreme or unpopular political opinion -- had better be prepared to accept and endure the consequences of expressing those opinions or learn to STFU!*

:? (*STFU = "Shut Their Faces Up")
