Of what real value is evolutionary "knowledge"?

Actually, neither. I don't think how nihilism affects people can be tested in the lab, but that doesn't mean we're simply stark-blind to its effects, or that we "don't bother to check". Any thinking person bothers to re-check everything he knows regularly.
Are the entire fields of Philosophy and Sociology bogus because they can't be proven or disproven in a lab?
Either you, honestly missed his point or played the same game with your response to Sedaka's post, anyway, he was referring to your accusasion of people being nihilists rather than how nihilism affects people, very clear.

Not a single one of the people I know to be atheists has any sense of nihilism. Of the five most morally rigorous people I know, four are atheists, I don't know the religious opinion of the fifth, only that he has never expressed any religious belief in my presence. From my own experience, I find your claim implausible, but I would like to see a better data set with larger sample size.

This is true, biology is my major and I attend a pretty reputable university. I'm not really sure what Ragtime is going on about.
However, Evolution is taught as part of any general biology class, as it is a required foundation.
So it's an elective, but it's required.
specific ENTIRE courses on evolution are an elective...
but they do have a lecture or maybe small unit on it in gen bio courses
Point is, they teach it, and require you to act like you believe in it -- even when you firmly do not --
in required classes.
That's wrong -- in every way -- for them to be doing to students.
lol they never make you sign a waiver or anything... but you do have to be able to answer questions about it... LIKE ANY OTHER CLASS
As I wrote (and you read) earlier, they make you write papers explaining why you know evolution is true.
In other words, they make religious people violate their beliefs, in between making fun of them.
no they don't
do you have to write lamo essays in history class saying "i believe in history"
or i believe in physics?
or i bleieve in math?
no..... but they are contextually applicable essays im sure.
But history, math, and physics have been tested and proven over and over again.
But that man evolved from lower lifeforms has neither been tested nor proven.
See the difference? Can you see it? Can you?

it's hardly a worthwile essay to write on why evolution "is true"... i sincerely doubt you'd see an essay as creatively LAME as that.
Please don't change my wordings into strawmen.
I didn't say the paper would be on why evolution is true;
I said it would explain why evolution is true.
Meaning in the process of addressing a broader discussion.

Uh-oh! You used the word "intelligently"! You're not bringing the idea that we were intelligently designed
INTO THE CLASSROOM, ARE YOU??!??!?!One1!? Remember, we all came from NON-LIFE, and NO GOD CREATED US!
The CLASSROOM only has room for ONE IDEA! ONE IDEA as to our origins!! !
Don't you go bringing GOD into my classroom!! !
Sorry, just launched into what most Christian students have to endure in America today.
not all christians feel as you do. i personally don't see the overlap. evo is just about HOW. of course the bio course isn't gonna extend any further than that.
and btw...
they didn't like the questions none too much that i had in church........ nor did they have any better answers than you.

The verb Sedaka linked to the adverb "intelligently" was "discuss", not "design".
I believe he probably knew that, unless he had his mind so set that he actually didn't see it or else, or intellectually dishonesty?
Ok, fellow-Aspies, listen:
I wasn't responding directly on the same train of thought that Sedaka wrote in.
I was doing just what I explained I was doing, if you'd read the last line I wrote in that post.

It's not about feeling as I do; it's about teachers singling out Christians in the class and making
fun of their belief in God, and their disbelief that man evolved from lower species and even dead matter.
There is little in this world that is more worthy of doubt than that man came from dead matter,
and yet students are not allowed to doubt this. And if they do doubt it, they are required to
pretend that they don't -- which means they are required to lie.
So, that's the modern science classroom for you: "Doubters of abiogenesis, and believers in God
creating us: either recant or you fail!"

At this point, this is just willful blindness of your part, I have to believe.

The thing is that, he made a point and you did not answer it correctly, and were going somewhere else, and probably you will never answer it.
And, actually, I am being more like this:

i can see lots of tests that have been proven for evolution... though i'll give you, i don't agree with them all (those being the ones i don't consider proven).
you see... when things get published in science... it doesn't make them the equivocal to the BIBLE... people disagree on how things should be proven... what constitutes good tests and proper statistics ect...
while this certainly opens the door for you jump at "Weakness"... i don't really care cause you don't seem to pay attention to that level of detail before you refute things. you just lump it all together cause you don't understand any of it.

people go to college because they want to be there... they enroll in classes they want to take.
if you don't want a full education... don't go to a liberal arts school... and if you do go to a liberal arts school, you can take alternatives to intro bio courses... you can take intro geo, physics, chemistry,astronamy... whatever... they just wanna make sure you get a term or two of SOME science....
and if you're a bio major... you had better get to know your enemy...
cause frankly, your arguments against evolution are weak.
and let's not talk about highschool... cause public school is a PoS and you can't talk about evolution properly anymore than relgion... so we're both equally testy over it.

you will be "corrected". That is to say, the teacher will tell you that you are incorrect,

Hmm, I'm more in favor of teachers being reprimanded for teaching students known falsehoods,
such as that "Man came from apes" is a fact, which hasn't been proven, or even roughly shown.
But hey, that's just me.
Whereas you're for "getting to know your enemy", rather than realizing that the enemy can be corrected and/or removed
to be replaced with a teacher who teaches facts as facts and opinions as opinions.
Where do you get the idea that numbskull teachers deserve to be tolerated,
while their students learn crap from them?

My Biology teacher is a Christian, you dolt. You think he was "singling out Christians and making fun of their belief in God?" How many people mock their own religion? And no one is required to lie, and no one's grade is affected by saying they don't believe in evolution.
Get over your delusions of persecution, Ragtime. For the last time, NOT ALL EVOLUTIONIST ARE ATHEIST.

No, I don't. I think he is one of the obvious exceptions to my general statement.

1. Fossils
2. Genetic analysis
This whole notion that teachers are "forced to lie" has no real existance outside of your paranoid mind. We have the fossils, we win. You really need to see a shink in order to get rid of your pathological persecution complex.

if i asked a similar question in church... you'd point me to the bible...
i keep telling you to go out there and read science literature... you don't seemed too informed in this area... so if you like, i can give you some links to free online science journals.
if there's much interest, i can post them on the forum... i'm not @ my personal pc atm and don't have bookmarks infront of me
