One thing the "guest workers" had over the homeless who would be "rounded up": Incentive.

The primary impetus for these "guest workers" working the California fields was making (even crap) money to send down to their family in Mexico, etc.

That perfectly describes Reagan's second term (he was senile and or had Althimer's) and George Ws entire Presidency. There hasn't been a legitimate two term Republican Presidency that didn't end in disgrace since that of Eisenhower.

Gosh, talk about selective amnesia among the right!
Trump - crazy madman with selfish narcissistic traits
Bush Jr - seemed to be off with the fairies 90% of the time, known to have smoked crack
Reagan - suffered dementia for part of the time he was president
Vice President Dan Quayle - one of the most incompetent people to take a leadership role in the history of the US

Such a joke.

There you go again
How about Clinton- Perv in Chief and regular on the Lolita Express or Emperor Obama who thought that he made his own laws. Or remember Roosevelt who imprisoned American citizens? Democrats don't have a shiny happy track record either.

Something i noticed about the Reagan and Trump Administration both of those men , had a tendency to be Wild Cards on the stage of politics . Other countries thought they were crazy, i think because , they had a tendency to do stuff of the wall. Which means unexpected reactions , During Trumps presidency . So many other countries had outstanding debt with the USA from a very long time back.
Trump started insisting that thesr countries pay their debts . Then the Chinese where stealing our tech before it even hit the US Markets . Then selling it back to us much cheaper . Trump put a stop the trade inequities , he could plainly see.. This all was boosting our economies , and making it more profitable to manufacture these things in the USA . Bringing back steel mill production , Whereas we had Lost many steel producing Businesses , which collapsed, entire towns , where the steel mills were located . And you wonder why all the midwestern states voted towards Trump.
But none of this gets much media attention here .But the Media gets the heaviest attention . Where the population is most dense. On the coasts .
How many people remember Trumps problem with the media from the outset. The media never forgot or forgave how Trump treated them .
Reagan had the world on edge , just cause of his image. He was a old time Movie Cowboy . At the same time as John Wayne . And all the world had been subject to Hollywoods images of leading men. Trump was about trying to fix the USA economy. Biden put us into trillions of dollars in debt.
Which comes back on the US taxpayer . At least he has put the Afganistan War to a end . In a very poor showing on the image of our military Possibly saving a trillion dollars a year . But the US economy is a War driven economy . And a big empolyer of US taxpayers .

I assume the "lolita" reference is in relation to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein? If you are digging a grave for Bill then you better make room in the coffin for two for Donald T. as well

“Terrific guy,” he (Trump) famously told New York magazine (about Epstein). “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it—Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

You guys gotta make everything about Trump don't you?
So how many times was Trump on Epstein's plane or on his island?

I don't care at all about the Monica Lewinsky incident. Clinton gave us 8 years of peace and prosperity. FDR was dealing with the biggest national crisis since the Civil War and the rules were different in the 1940s. Obama though I agree wasn't a very good President.

^Biden’s response and ability to govern and make sound judgement is beyond disturbing, at a time when action and sound judgement is so needed.

If ever there was a time to stand up for what’s truly “right”, if now isn’t that “time” then when is?

Nope. He simply honored a promise made by the Orange Fool. We trained the Afghan Army at a cost in the trillions. We did our part. Only way to get rid of the Taliban is to kill everyone over there and start fresh.

^^ With respect, Biden did not have to honor Trump’s promises just as he chose to not to honor certain other promises. He’s been very selective.

I'm glad my tax money and the lives of my countries soldiers aren't being wasted on that God forsaken miserable waste heap of a nation anymore.

I appreciate and value your thoughts on all this, Axeman. I only wish, I could feel as you do, and without this overwhelming sense of frustration and sadness. Does it sincerely sit right with you?

If my brother had fought and worked 20 years of his life to efffectively bring about positive change in Afghanistan … as was achieved … only to have the rug pulled cruelly out from under, at the eleventh hour … I would not want him to lay down and accept that all his good work was for nought … that “good people” must die simply because it’s easier “for now” to simply give in and walk away, full well knowing what this means for those left behind and to the future stability of those in the West.

If the people of Afghanistan want the Taliban gone they are going to have to do it themselves. Seems the problem is they don't. I mean we gave them training, guns, and tanks. What more do you want?

Taliban has now curtailed any of the people from that Country from leaving " now."
It was said that they are losing all their most intelligent Countrymen .
it is very sad what juliette wrote about all those Americans and other supporting CountriesSoldier and others ,overthere giving their all to help that country in one way or another .And what the long term resulting action has been .... :(

From what we’re hearing here in the UK, all is not what it seemed. Biden was being misled, though he likely was aware in reality. We’ve hearing here that that were only 50, 000 Afghan troops, that things weren’t as we were led to believe. The elite Afghan soldiers, American trained, are currently giving their all to the death in those few areas not currently taken over by the “terrorists”.

We only need look at the number of Afghans scrambling to flee in fear, to know that the vast majority are anti-Taliban rule. They had embraced and many were essentially learning and living in a more democratic way. What we’re currently seeing speaks volumes. I cannot help but place myself in the place of any man, woman or child who values the democratic way of life right now. It comes down to right or wrong in my eyes. Where there is a clear oppressor with no good will toward human life, how can it be right to allow such injustice to proceed, as it currently is being … and this is only the beginning of Afghanistan 2021 absolute rule in all its brutality.

We can choose to bury our heads in the sand or face reality. Correct me if I’m wrong here.
