Homosexuality
Another thing I CONSTANTLY give up for my Christianity is dating women who aren't Christian. I realize that's best for me (no doubt about it), but it REALLY limits my selection. In fact, girls just saying they're Christian isn't enough; I have to really see that they probably are totally serious about Christ before dating them, or else I'm testing the Lord's patience. Paul said Christians can't marry non-Christians.
So, loneliness is a Christian sacrifice.

Tough s**t. You chose that. I don't exactly have a long line of girls waiting to sleep with me either.
I don't remember well my Biblical studies as a kid, I thought Paul said it was better not to marry at all.
I also remember that Paul was a misogynist.

In two days this thread gathered 20+ pages of replies? Woooooooooo
I don't have time to read them all. I'm a busy man. A really busy man.
However.
I will present my opinion, harsh as it may be.
On the issue of homosexuality, there are two sides. Unlike many issues, where both sides each are able to present logic as a basis of their arguments, only one side on the issue of homosexuality is using logic. The other side... well... I'll get to that later.
I am on the side that is fighting for equal rights, protection from discrimination, freedom of love and marriage, protection from hate crimes, and freedom of religion. I am on the side that opposes hate as a political tool. I am on the side that opposes any sort of attempt to classify homosexuality as an illness, or anything other than what it really is - a part of an individual. I am on the side that opposes the slander of homosexuals, bisexuals and supporters. I am on a very broad and diverse side.
The side that opposes homosexuality, bisexuality, and the transgendered is also quite broad. There are Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, even Native Americans that oppose homosexuality. There are people that don't agree with homosexuality, but don't agree with discriminating against homosexuals either. On the other hand, there are people that hate homosexuals so much, they are willing to murder people just because of their sexual orientation.
What better way to sum up the opinions of the anti-gay side than by quoting them directly...
"If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything." - Rick Santorum on the Supreme Court ruling striking down the Texas anti-sodomy law.
"Homosexuals are brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven." - Jerry Falwell
"All homosexuals should be castrated." - Billy Graham
"Unless we get medically lucky, in three or four years, one of the options discussed will be the extermination of homosexuals." - Paul Cameron, main "scientist" behind most of the ex-gay movement.
"God Hates Fags" - Fred Phelps. While he may be rejected by most of the "less" extreme anti-gay movement, he is still anti-gay.
"Well, according to Dr. Aarden VanWeg (sp?), an expert in homosexuality and other forms of deviant sexual behavior in Holland, that although numerically there are more pedophiles that are heterosexual, percentage-wise in a population, it's much greater in the homosexual community. So there is some relationship. No, not every homosexual is a pedophile - obviously not - but it's a greater percentage - much greater. So they ought to do their homework before they say these things." - Dr. Laura Schlessinger
" 'Hitler and his supporters were Satanists and homosexuals. That's just a true statement.' He added, 'The notion that is involved in homosexuality, the unbridled sort of satisfaction of human passions' leads to 'totalitarianism,' 'Nazism,' and 'communism.' " - People for the American Way quoting Alan Keyes. An interesting, and kinda sad fact is that he has a lesbian daughter, and as a loving Christian father... he has disowned her because of her sexuality.
"Nicolosi describes gay partnerships as bedeviled by cheating, teasing, fights, jealousy, rage, suspicion, envy, restlessness, and disappointment. Nicolosi writes, ‘Homosexual relationships are so characteristically volatile because the homosexual hates what he loves.’ " - Joseph Nicolosi, head of NARTH
"Homosexuality is the result of the moral fall of the human race." - American Family Association
Homosexuality is "a sexual behavior that is killing our young people and destroying families" - AFA Action Alert - 4/25/97
"At least twice Cameron has advocated the tattooing of AIDS patients on the face, so that people would know when they were meeting with an infected person. The penalty for trying to hide the tattoo would be banishment to the Hawaiian island of Molokai, a former leper colony. In the event that a vaccine were developed to prevent AIDS, Cameron has proposed that homosexuals be castrated to prevent them from 'cheating' on nature." - Paul Cameron... the "expert" most of the anti-gay movement relies on for their propaganda.
"He has also advocated the outlawing of homosexuality and the forcible closing of all Gay bars; homosexuals would be required to register with government authorities and have their movements tracked." - Mark E. Pietrzyk on Paul Cameron, News-Telegraph, March 10, 1995.
"Basically, homosexuality is a neurosis. It's healable, it's treatable. We are ministering to 6,000 former homosexuals in the Exodus network. Basically, homosexuality is a stunting of psychosexual growth. They are children inside, and any parents out there -- you know, when your kid is spoiled, he'll keep coming at you and keep coming at you and keep coming at you until you give him a whack on the bottom and say, 'Enough!' and then the child will stop." - Anthony Falzarano
.............................................
I could post 50 pages of quotes from the anti-gay movement. However, instead I will reach out to those who oppose equal rights for gays - for any reason - and ask you to look into your heart and ask yourself if it is right to align yourself with the same people who declare that homosexuality is a disease, that it should be exterminated, and that "God hates fags"? Is it right to be a part of the movement that ignores scientifically sound fact on homosexuality and try to use outdated and immoral practices to try to cure homosexuality? Is it right to stand and protest with the same people that would disown their own children if they were gay and were unable to change because of their homosexuality being rooted in biology, throwing them out to the streets only to be shocked when their child commits suicide?
I've been active on this issue for years, and I have not heard or seen a single shred of logic out of the anti-gay movement. The closest they get is using Bible quotes, which is hypocritical to say the least. They cherry pick the ones that suit their deep-seated hatred against gays.
The anti-gay movement is on the same level as those that opposed civil rights for black people. There was no logic, only hatred, back then and the same applies to today.
Think of it this way...
Science has shown over and over that homosexuality is biological, and that it is not black and white. Bisexuality exists, and there are different levels of bisexuality, homosexuality and heterosexuality. Everyone has at least a tiny bit of attraction toward the same sex - unless they couldn't possibly remark on how good a sweater looks on a fellow guy or how nice that dress looks on a fellow woman. Now, in heterosexuals, homosexual attraction is not strong enough to warrant a sexual desire. In bisexuals, there is homosexual and heterosexual attraction, both of which are strong enough to warrant a sexual desire. In ex-gays, the fact is that most of them are bisexuals suppressing their homosexual attractions. Many people that believe themselves to be homosexual also have heterosexual attractions, and are in fact bisexual to some degree.
Now, the one thing that does separate anti-gay hatred from racism is that the former has more of a religious basis of sort. The Bible does oppose homosexuality, and while Biblical scholars have found arguments to the contrary, most translations of the Bible declare homosexuality to be a sin in Leviticus, and some add homosexuality to the New Testament as well...
However, no matter what the Bible says, it is not the law of America. That would go against what this nation was founded upon - Freedom. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech. When William Penn founded the state of Pennsylvania, one of the founding principles of Pennsylvania is freedom of religion.
So here I present to you a challenge. Without using the Bible, find a reason why people should oppose gay marriage. Then ask yourself if that reason is logical. What is the basis for the argument? Is there any fact behind it? "Gay marriage will crumble society" is not a good example, but rather just an example of how hate has dominated the anti-gay movement.
So, loneliness is a Christian sacrifice.
Tough sh**. You chose that. I don't exactly have a long line of girls waiting to sleep with me either.
Maybe if you go to church, you will find that, who knows?

No, he just wasn't a feminist. Nothing wrong with that -- neither am I. It doesn't mean I beat my wife, or stone her if she sleeps with another man, nor would I do so if it was the custom. That'd be cruel!! !
So, loneliness is a Christian sacrifice.

Actually, I did, and even got engaged, but I realized I wasn't really in love with her. There are no more available women in my church. (Thank God! In truth, it's better that I not marry. I can't let Mr. P. Enis rule my life!)

well thats because your not out there Soph
and Ragtime...someone else said something cant marry something else
who was that...
I cant take the bible seriously-sounds like a dicatorship
and I am a free man
Christians are being Christians if they don't tell people that Jesus is the only way to God. .
Awesome. So go be a Christian.
Oops
If that is the case then you should just tell them once and leave it at that. If they then ask you to kindly STFU, you should do so. I'd like to be able to live my life without idiotic Christians going on and on at me about BS.

Now, how do you know that wasn't God expressing
his true will, through your errors?
Because being straight one can feel better when a woman does to you than a man, that's not a fact, it's a subjective view, because you are just seeing this in one single point of view, that of a straight man.
Indeed, I've rather heard the opposite.
take that seinfield show for example.... they stick with their team cause they have access to the equipment WAY more... so how can women compete in that arena
Because God made them to match with men, hello... It's obvious, if you just open your eyes.
so how does this support your conclusions that women are better at sucking cock?
yet another point on which you shift your views at the first sign of dissention
Precisely "how" they're better at sucking cock is inelocutable, of course, but I think it's still true.
Perhaps a formal series of trials should be arranged...
And you're now doing the opposite of what you told Kilroy to do. You're being unnecessarily abusive in your language. How will he learn?

Aww. You poor Christians.
Aw, you poor homosexuals.
I bet most gay people get more sh** for being gay than you've ever had for being a Christian.
Seriously doubt that.
Were you bullied in school for being Christian? Did you lose 'friends' for being Christian? Did your family not accept you for being Christian?
Yes to all three, and I'll continue to lose people, opportunities, money, and possessions for living out my morality.
Are you so sure it was your
mere morality, and not your
personality?
The ones I'm thinking of were all definitely spiritual.

Unlikely, really. Not just the experience issue,
nor desire (which is one of the points that many
queers bring up - that they really enjoy - but
some women do too), but also likely mouth
size.
