Utopia is a place where there is no scarcity. Human desires are limitless.

The best thing we could have in our world is a society where people are free to pursue their desires as long as they do not agress against others.

A place where your house and property are self-sufficient. You provide your own basic needs, and have the technology to do this easily. The world population has been successfully decreased through intelligent & ethical population management to one billion. There is limited central world government to organize efforts for the common good. Corporations deconstruct their current model and become more akin to giant co-op ventures where interested citizens can invest and get involved in constructive issues, and the hierarchy is based on merit and physical contributions rather then being a rich white guy with a big counsel of financial advisers who could care less about the company's future. Whether you are liberal or conservative in your leanings, you can get along well with your neighbors as you are all involved in the community in some way, as the co-op ventures are a major part of ones life, unlike in modern corporations, where the inherent value of your work is only based on paying the bills. In this utopia, religious strife is a non-issue, as with the self-sufficient nature of every person's home and property (and a property capable of self-sufficiency is provided as a basic human right) there is no scarcity anywhere in the world. With the basic needs for survival taken care of, people become more concerned with the future, and a moral paradigm shift takes place, where Humans become patriotic about all cultures instead of just their own, as we realize we are all fundamentally the same and all just wish to live in peace..
That would be nice 8)

Great question. A world in which Apathy is not the default state, where people live in complete voluntarism, and a society in which Rationality and Truth replace the virtue of doublethink :)

My utopia? Naked women worshiping me and bringing me mounds of the finest cannibus strains from around the world. Ritual monthly psilocybin mushroom trips for psychological/"spiritual" well being and balance. Corporations interested in knowledge for the sake of knowledge and the excitement of discovering new things and coming up with new ideas. Most of the socialist ideas I've already spouted elsewhere.

/no one ever asked me for a working utopic model....just a nice little day dream of paradise.

Haha

Work makes you a slave ;)

My utopia would be a world where ever human being considered of living beings, animals and the rest of nature equal to themselves and treated everyone with love, kindness and respect.

Technological wise, i think automating things such as production and agriculture would be ideal so that humans can enjoy their lives. Things would be built to LAST and local library style centres would be built in cities where items can be kept. Camera, headphones, sports equipment you name it. Each thing would be designed to last and would not need to be as mass produced so that it can be shared in the style of centres i described. This also saves our homes cluttering.

This wont stop anyone from educating themselves because school and research facilities could be built along side everything else.

People would explore the planet and perhaps the stars as well.

Transportation could all be automated using satellite technology or a similar technology.

Energy would be renewable by using a combo of geothermal, solar and wind whilst minimising environmental impacts. Capacitors would be built to help store energy and forecasting to help us to predict any chances of a power out so we can direcect energy from different systems to compensate.

Healthy food for everybody. Good health care for everybody. Research into the science of energy healing and spirituality.

There should definitely be research into it, but the evidence so far isn't looking too good for it. Not too bad a Utopia though :)

Thanks. anything you'd add to it i missed out?

And...

Which part you mean? the energy healing?

its up to people to decide for themselves but if you ask me it is real and it does work.

I have had Reiki healing done on my before and it helps calm the mind down and get negative energy to leave the body.

A utopia to me would be everyone understanding eachother. No, there wouldn't be world peace, no cancer cure, no ceasing of all war, nothing changed. Just a mutual understanding. That's all I would want in a utopia.

What does my utopia look like?

Canada.

Except, maybe a little warmer.

300 years of peace and brotherhood and what have the Canadians invented? Insulin and the hockey puck.
