by "u and your like" i mean the narrow minded,conspiracy promoters( google the "USS liberty" and u immediately get all the hate sites in the world),fact ignorers,extremists which motivated mainly by hate
I'm 55,lived most of my life here,spent much of my childhood in a shelter because the Syrian shelled my Kibutz daily,
was wounded at the 73 war as a young soldier
witnessed terror attacks
lived for years under hizbolla rockets attacks
I support the Palestinian cause since i was a child
was raised this way by parents who lost their entire families and possessions in Europe yet build a new home in a swamp no one cared or dared to cultivate
i donate money and demonstrate against the settlements and promote peaceful solution in this area for many many years
i have Palestinians partners and friends for many years and like most Israelis are very much into dismantling all the settlements and getting pal's forgiveness for the wrongs done to them and doing anything possible to help them build succseful neiberhood

i don't care for my nationality,don't care for any nationality for that matter
it's all just a big pile of cr*p for me
i do not care if the state of Israel will cease to exist and all the people from Iraq to the USA will become citizens of the world
but i doubt if someone who digs up the "USS liberty" cr**p could get someone like me who wants peace above anything else

OK. I misappraised you. I apologize. I also want peace. I just don't think you will get it the way you are going about it. If nothing else the Arab avalanche of births is a threat that is not being handled and I have no love for the current level of decency in the fundamentalist Arab world in general although the Arabs I knew in Israel were intelligent decent people, just as were the bulk of the Israelis. But what is going on is horrifying and the official solutions offered on progress will only lead to more horror.

The Liberty incident is not crap. It happened. It is inexcusable.

Keeping the peace topic

I think what the world needs now is more open communication, less propaganda, and more focus on ordinary matters that ordinary people worry about in an ordinary world.

We may not be the most adept at the big picture, but many of the details of ordinary life are what could be the focus. Why not post stuff about Aspie Palestinians and Jew and maybe how they work out some of this political stuff. An Aspie solution. It is not far fetched.

And this thread itself just serves to inflame. Is this the idea?

If you have one, you'll have the other. More open communication means more propaganda. Even if completely unintentional. Short of everyone simultaneously practicing ego death, seeing beyond their own lives and seeing the lives of others with a blank slate and untarnished, any communication will end up having some level of propaganda in it and a level of an idea of shared morality.

The problem is not communication it's land. Israel wants all of it.

Not true, there's plenty nebulous space in the middle of Israel that they doesn't really care for....which is why the settlements are still expanding rather than building within the borders of their own country...it's that the land they have isn't good enough.

I find Israeli methods to be more sadistic than anyone else's - and it's a function of the absolute power they enjoy over their victims. You wipe people out when you fear them. The Israelis are like someone who pulls the legs off of an animal and watches it squirm... slowly, slowly, slowly...

There's also this obsession with bodily functions. How often did I see adherents of the big Z declare that "Arafat can't go to the bathroom without us knowing about it", again and again... and variants of such things...

It'd help if you'd be more honest about it and say that the government and military heads are the ones doing it. The Israel people are as innocent as the Palestinian people for the most part...pawns caught up in a sick game much larger than themselves.

I maintain that the only reason the Israelis kill more than their enemies is because Israel's enemies are primitive people who lack the capability to wage war effectively. If Lebanon, or Syria, or the Palestinians, had access to nuclear weapons you can be sure they would be quick to use them against Israel. Israel, in contrast, has shown some restraint. They have the capability to quite easily wipe out most of their neighbors (didn't they take the Sinai Peninsula at one point?) but they do not do so.

It happened in 1967. That is 42 years ago. Nothing like it happened before and nothing like it has happened since. It is an unfortunate blip. A glitch. A one of.

The State of Israel depends a great deal on U.S. support and good will. They are not going to jeopardize it unnecessarily.

hezbollah's cheap rockets killed some of my neighbors (most of them were Palestinians) and families didn't care about the price of a rockets that killed their son
hezbollah was the one who started this war and according to any human law and sentiment the one that initiate the violence is the criminal and not the one who respond to it

Who started what does not depend on actual military action but the ongoing conflict over territory which has a long continuous history dating from the foundation of the country and the Zionist history and theory which drives a good deal of the country. I well remember the national exultation in Israel after the six day war over "greater Israel".

When Palestinian and Israeli lives are given equal worth by both sides perhaps some sensible humanity will result. At the moment this does not exist and I see only a worsening of the situation as the country becomes more and more isolated. The USA is beginning to tire over the intransigence of the current politics and US economics may, at end, force Israel to respond with the ultimate force it now has in its power and its hubris over it's military power may, tragically, prove its ultimate downfall. This will be a major tragedy for all the peoples involved. The possibility of Israel being the nucleus of an economic upsurge in the area as a center of technology and humanitarianism for the entire middle east is a goal that holds great future promise and the religious and political conflicts over territorial control is the terribly stupid and unproductive barrier that must somehow be overcome. At the moment I cannot see how.
