To be honest I don't believe I have the mental/physical capacity and patience to be a dictator for long so I'd resign too.

However if I could change certain things in society without any objection by others, I would enact the following:

- Legalize and heavily regulate ALL recreational drugs. Tax and limit their sale in proportion to the actual amount of physical harm they do and their potential for addiction. For example, Heroin and Cocaine would only be available in a smaller amount than Marijuana and taxed much more heavily. Use the taxes to fund Rehab (for substance abuse), scientific research and other health care services.

- Introduce socialized health care and mandatory health insurance.

- Provide significantly discounted secondary and higher education for all students from Disadvantaged backgrounds to study whatever course/degree they genuinely want, however they must be bound by contract to work in that industry for a certain period of time (10 years at least) within the country.

- Abolish death penalty, but replace it with lengthy jail sentences for crimes like murder and rape.

There are other policies but I'm too tired to type them all... :?

What a shame. Here you have the opportunity to solve all the world's major problems and you're just too tired to give us all the details.

I don't know where this comes from - it was a while ago when I heard it. But it's been said that the best leader is the one who doesn't want to lead.

By the way can anyone tell me what OP stands for on these threads? I've seen it a couple of times now.

Before someone mentions Hitler, let me tell you something, I'm not like him, I want peace, but there must be rules if a nation I envision would be created, maybe I'm not the right person to become a dictator, but I possess the ideas and visions, so maybe someone else should carry them out.

You just did and in doing so added more validity to Godwins observations

Really someone with your obviously super intellect, and profound understanding of social and economic class antagonisms must become world dicatator, if not you who!! !

Your ramblings in this post demonstrate a complete lack of original thought and as for visions best you run along to a doctor about those. Go back to school, do some research, learn about the ideas you are spewing and the consequences of them, better still stop being an uninformed mouthpiece for the likes of Farrakhan and Sharpton

Do the most logical thing: Resign and move to
a country with a medium-sized community
where no one can find me.

If I was forced to become a dictator: {Part 1}

1.} End the Iraq War
and move most of our troops
to Afghanistan or the Darfur region

2.} Fix the Economy
and pay off federal debt
through negotiations.
I would cut taxes on those
who are in bad financial shape
and raise taxes on the rich/big corporations.
Allow small businesses to grow and expand.

3.} Protect Social Security
and oppose any bill that would
make SS fall into the hands of private companies.

4.} Lobby for a law that legalizes medical marijuna...

The idea goes back to the ancient Greeks, and saw a definite resurgence in America where we have historically distrusted people who appeared to be seeking power. In my case, though, I would resign out of recognition that I am not fit to be a ruler. I tend to shy away from leadership positions in general- there are others better suited to the task.

Humans are a decidedly difficult problem to manage and although a tight dictatorship could impose a certain type of order for a period experience has indicated it leads to huge miseries and brutalities. Very many attempted benign leaders end up assassinated and in general government has rarely if ever been extremely benign and successful for extended periods, even with the best leadership. I certainly would not attempt it.

But to you an ideal system would be controlled by a benevolent dictator, I believe.

Becoming THE dictator would for me be somewhat hypocritical  .

Although upon reading the post I did for a split second toy with the idea of my one and only degree being the formation of soviets which would then by default result in my resignation. Of course the problem with this concept being that a world prepared to deliver power to a sole individual would have no hope of implementing let alone maintaining a cohesive network of soviets.

Central control of the World is a vain quest. It is a futility. It cannot be done.
