Why do many countries have more mobility than the US? Or why does the US have such a high rate in distributing wealth to the uber rich and such a low rate of redistributing wealth to the poor?

Just would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

We are not behind in supporting the poor and destitute. We just don't feel the need to hand them success on a platinum platter.

Also: A HUGE reason that the "rich get richer" is because the Dems and Reps are both nothing more than panderers to upper class organizations. A second HUGE reason is the Federal Reserve ;)

Oh yeah, according to a documentary i watched tonight, the reason why Syria is the way it is now is apparently the fault of the USA's meddling. Tired of their tricks, they joined up with the Soviets, and well... They said that it is kind of a pity because otherwise Syria would've gotten along well with the US. But that and the "unconditionnal" support towards Israel... <.<

Let's just say those inhumane treatments in contemporary Syria are rather reminiscent of sovietic communism (be taught to revere the leader while you're in school, not question the leadership, there's apparently 4 different "secret services" squads that report about what each of them are doing o.O, in order to even join the squads, you need to do a report on your best friend. <.< And let's not talk about the prisons...)

In the early 20th century, the "heartland", now solidly red republican "flyover country" was a hotbed of socialism. The Populist movement and William Jennings Bryan wanted to end the evil of the gold standard, as they were being "crucified on a cross of gold". Then something happened - the Bolshevik Revolution first and later the Cold War. These areas though full of socialism were also very religious and the enemies of socialism were able to successfully paint socialism as Godless and that the wrath of God will rain upon them if they continue such heresies and people chose God over socialism. Now these same farmers who 100 years ago attacked the gold standard and supported movements like social credit particularly in Canada for fiat currency are now demanding a return to the gold standard and tight monetary policies that surely would force them into bankruptcy!
