A reason as to why many christians discouraged children from reading those infernal books. -_-

Christianity has more paganism and pagan symbolism in it than Harry Potter.

When. I rather thought that Christianity started out as misled Jewish Messianic cult.

True, the jews didn't accept J.C. of N as Messiah, his movement was considered a sect, thus pagan.

The word "pagan" means "non-Christian."

I read the series through my own Christian Faith so I notice the things that are similar. The main idea of the series seems to be that Love is the highest power and will ultimately win out. It gets you through the battles and ultimately wins the war. This is very much in line with my personal Christian beliefs. I love the book and think that it's very silly when Christians who haven't read it say it's demonic or something. Ridiculous.

didn't we have this exact discussion somewhere else and you argued that it meant witchcraft?

No, you must have me confused with someone else. The word Pagan was first coined to refer specifically to non-Christians. Jews call everyone else Gentiles and Muslims say Infidels, Christians call the rest of the world Pagans.

Yeah, that's what I said when someone listed pagan as a religion/faith.

Has anyone here seen this:
Harry Potter: Politically Correct Paganism by (Jan Markell, Wendell Amstutz, Bill Schnoebelen)

I am curious to hear how people can tie the Harry Potter mythos with any specific pagan beliefs.

Any input?

Nope, I haven't seen or read anything for or against Harry Potter. It seems like lameness even prior to looking into it further. as a teen I was more into fiction books like Robinson Crusoe, Carry On Mr. Bowditch, A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court, By Right Of Conquest, Out Of The Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength, Tambu, Starship Troopers, Ender's Game, Caves Of Steel, and a few of the Animorphs books. Sherman Potter on M.A.S.H. was a fairly cool character though. I'm related to some Potters on my mother's side. But no, I have no interest in the fantasy genre.
