Are there no atheists in foxholes?

I built a model of an AH-64 Longbow Apache back when I was 5, it was the first item that I saved up for over 6 months to buy. It is a cool helicopter. Oh, where was your collateral murder video?

It looks like their mistake was waiting for movement from the trucks, not knowing the weapons dealers brought their families out to see the transaction.

It's not about Paris Hilton, man. I just picked her because she's funny. There's idiots in all walks of life, so for what it's worth, you might as well just get used to it.

Of course, Mr. Sand also went on to say that intelligent people never put them selves in harm's way. That's either a hilarious piece of sarcasm, or the thickest argument EVER.


EDIT: The use of the word 'whirred' as if to say 'werd' is inspired. Well.... it's kinda cool.

i served in a u.s. army infantry unit that had a 110GT score requirement. we used to joke that it was a way to keep the nerds dumb enough to sign up infantry from telling dumber grunts when they were getting screwed over. i'm not saying highly intelligent soldiers are the norm. especially in the infantry, they're not. because dumb grunts make so much more noise than intelligent soldiers, it's understandable that people wouldn't expect to find a lot of intelligence in a line-unit.

as for dumb atheists...... or at least dumb people calling themselves atheists..... do i really need to get into that? i'm sure you know a few.

my acquaintances are many and i associate with all sorts of people, smart and dumb, reasonable and irrational. i find a certain joy in discovering why people believe what they believe and i have noticed that the general intelligence of the belief-holder cannot, always, be inferred from the belief (or lack thereof).

Yeah. The athiests I know held those beliefs during times of extreme resentment (highschool) after which, once they experienced some success, became more agnostic. If they were ever true atheists, their opinion wouldn't change based on such superficial things.

I have had several relatives who fought in World War One and all were in foxholes. They were volunteers and not conscripts. Most survived.

A few were atheists, no doubt. The end was the same for all who fell on the battlefield.. Some of my surviving relatives documented what happened when hit by mustard gas: you hoped and if you were religious you prayed that you would live.
