Actually, being a "maligned minority" is such a desirable thing in this era that people seek whichever way they can call themselves one. Having Asperger's is one way of saying that a person is in a minority, assuming it is still 1:150 ratio, and employers frequently discriminate against us poor Aspies. It is even in formal policy of the US Army that it is a disqualifying criteria, as per this response to a letter I wrote:

But ADHD is also, although that is far more common than Asperger's and just requires a note from a teacher or parent or psychologist which says that you don't seem to have it anymore.
