If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom , a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had miss-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed the biggest power grab by the executive branch EVER and upsetting the balance of powers in the guise of “Health Care Reform,” would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry.

He's done all this in 5 months -- so you'll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer.

i am a fool for hope. hope is the only food available to the folks you call fools. so what would you have a fool eat that is NOT hope?

well, on one hand, there is the notion "people get what they asked for" when it comes to democratic elections, on the other hand, ruveyn did not propose a better alternative, so what all the "fools" should have done so instead, so they would not be fools? I doubt abstaining from voting to be a better solution.

There's nothing to tell. I already stated the reason I voted for Obama. I freely admit that it was a lesser-of-two-evils vote on my part. Obama is just as much of a criminal as most other democrat or republican politicians. I just knew he wouldn't pander too much to the nutbars on the cultural/christian right. His asinine and cynical choice (Rick Warren) for his inaugural invocation was regrettable however.

I think Republican obstructionism is mostly responsible for the lack of anything getting done. And as I remember it, Obama was left this current mess by that village idiot from Texas.
And yes, I did vote for Obama, and I plan to do it again.

Because opposition from a democratic minority REALLY obstructed Bush and the republican legislative branch.

It's foolish to think that this is only the republicans.

He did need one; he just refused the help.

How about billions of dollars to kill the man that tried to kill his daddy?

I'd say your evidence for the former is dubious at best. Since I define myself as a Libertarian Socialist, I really wouldn't care about the latter even if it is true. Unlike many Americans, I do not look upon socialism as some sort of unconditional evil.

You should care about the latter because it means that she is interpreting the law and constitution based on her own bias rather than its original meaning.

Conservative justices never do this? Furthermore....the "original meaning" of much of the constitution is open for debate, it's not like there's always some objective interpretation. Even if there was...unlike alot of you conservatives... i'm really not convinced that the constitution is the immutable word of god itself.

They do it all the time but when it's rulings like "corporations hold the same free speech rights as individuals" and "campaign contributions constitute a form of speech that is protected under the first amendment"....well.....you just won't hear too too much about those rulings (at least not from mainstream national news).

I think the Republican party might have won the 2008 election provided two conditions. 1, that everyone would know how crap of a president Obama was to be, and 2, get rid of the limit for number of terms possible to be held for the president. I think that Bush did a better job in the circumstances available than many others would have done, including Al Gore and John Kerry and certainly including Barak Obama.

Barak Hussein Obama has had nearly two years in office to "clean up the mess left by" Bush, and what has he done? Nothing! He piddles, twiddles, and resolves, but not one damn thing does he solve!*

Because Obama himself is the problem ! !!

Even if Obama wanted to do anything, he couldn't because his electoral base is filled with all of the people weaned on the government teat.

...

Obama's base of support is composed of all of the entitled people who are the problem in this country. White Americans, Christians, Veterans, Taxpayers, and productive citizens are all against Obama.

Obama's base of support is more than just members of "minorities" who feel entitled. Plenty of his supporters were also White (as evidenced even on this board), some are also the type of ~Christian who approve of abortion, homosexuality, and such stuff, some might have been veterans though I can't force myself to imagine too high of a percentage would, the more well off liberals would also have been for Obama, and perhaps some people who are otherwise conservative just due to not wanting to be called a racist or whatever. In a Venn diagram, there are quite a few possible conjunctive intersections, so I doubt it's just all this or all that.

I am tired of the claims that everything is Bush's fault though. God forbid that Obama is elected for another term, but if he were I see it as a near certainty that even in the last year of Obama's reign that Bush would still be blamed for Obama's ineptitude.
