Comparing the damage done by Hoffa and Enron it's probable Hoffa comes off as a minor player.

Because there's a shoot-load of loopholes in the tax code that thereby make theeffective tax rate much less?

You do know, of course, that incorporation isn't the only way to start a business and that incorporating comes with a lot of perks (like the ability to give unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns you support due to your "free speech" rights).

Of course not, but 1000 poor people can create 1 job out of thin air if they all buy the same product. I'm not an economist either, but I have heard economist after economist on the news and on Planet Money podcasts (hardly a liberal group) say that the problem right now is consumer confidence and weak spending. No one is going to hire more factory workers if there's no demand for the factory's product, and no one's going to go out buying all kinds of stuff if they can't find a well-paying job.

Somehow the obvious keeps being neglected. Business keeps treating the labor costs of production as a nuisance to be minimized and then is surprised that the market which gets its spending money to buy products has no money to buy their products.. Sending their production overseas to get cheap labor removes consumer purchasing power from the system and deprives the producers of customers.
