Excluding the whole "source of info had to violate security clearances to do so" angle, I can't say I feel bad about the whole deal.
As I understand it, no information regarding active military readiness is being made public. It's more a compiling of the USA's dirty laundry that everyone knows is there, but the specifics were a mystery.
For a free society to remain free, government must be transparent and accountable. Is there a need for national secrets? YES. However, where to draw that line has been a challenge both militarily, politically, ethically, morally and legally. The more you let government keep secrets, the less "free" that nation becomes.
I don't see any of this making things worse. The bad guys would hate us either way, and unless it's brought to light, the pubic will never know what to call the government accountable for. However, that we find out stuff like this goes on does a lot to damage the reputation of the nation as a whole.
