The Birchers back in the 1950's claimed President Eisenhower was not only a communist, but was taking orders from his brother. They also ran with the fluoridated water mind control conspiracy hysteria. They claimed the civil rights movement was communist controlled. One doesn't have to even wonder that they believed unions were communistic. When communism in eastern Europe was collapsing, they were certain that the commies had pulled the wool over Reagan's eyes, and that it was all a charade to catch us off guard. Then, after it became obvious communism really had fallen in Europe, after all, they switched their paranoid delusions to the shadowy, formless new world order conspiracy theories. Now, it's all having a secret communist, Muslim, illegal immigrant black man for president, and gay marriage that is going to destroy us.
And that's only the tip of the ice berg. All this alone in my humble opinion qualifies them for a one way ticket to a padded cell.

In the 60s the JBS leadership tried to denounce racism while simultaneously opposing the civil rights movement as a communist conspiracy. The trouble was they lost a lot of racist and anti-semitic members among their rank-and-file who were drawn to the movement because of it's anti-desegregation and NWO conspiracy beliefs. So while the JBS formally distanced itself from racism, they still had to deal with all their racist members which lead to a schism of sorts.

They have no proof, they've even tried to concoct evidence in the past. If they're desperate enough for that then Beck must really have them rattled.

Yeah I know they are very anti-communist and far right, but where's the proof of them wanting to bring back the good ol days of children working in coal mines? They strike me as a group that is real paranoid about the government rather than being reactionaries. They don't seem to have a clearly defined stance on anything else...

Conservatives are stereotypically old white men, but he's saying whites in general which I don't get. And can you provide a transcript for the social justice thing? I don't even know about Glenn Beck that much so it's not like I'm gonna vouch for him right off the bat but I just wanna see and judge for myself since twisting of words is rampant in politics and pretty much anything involving debate.

For one, I am not ripping into all white people when I use the word cracker. Rather, I'm talking about the ignorant ones.
As for Beck slamming social justice, I'm afraid I don't have the time (or the desire) to spend time hunting up transcripts from his show. But I know that information supporting this is widely available.

Nobody EVER explained what it was about, or who John Birch might be [though I WAS told he was not the founder] or what was such a big deal about Che Guevara.

John Birch has been called the first causality of the Cold War, as he was an American serviceman executed by the Red Chinese. This rightwing group on the lunatic fringe chose to take his name back in the late forties. They've been having paranoid delusions of communists and Islamic radicals behind every tree and under every bed since.

Glenn Beck apparently has said he does not believe Obama is a muslim.



As posted earlier, I watch Glenn Beck a couple times a week when it reruns late at night. I've also read two of his books. I've never watched MSNBC (ever) or visited Moveon.org.

I'm going back quite awhile, before Obama was elected president. Glenn Beck didn't say Obama was currently a Muslim, but claimed that he was once a Muslim and it was dangerous for the country to elect a president who sympathized with Muslims.

In 2010 Glenn Beck says," President Obama is not a Muslim. I’m taking his word that he is a Christian. But here’s where it falls apart for many Americans: It’s a Christianity that most Americans just don’t recognize.
I don’t know what that is, other than he’s not Muslim, he’s not Christian. He’s a perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ as most Christians know it."

That's quite a statement from Glenn Beck, the Mormon.
