The how-to guide to offending the Left
Discussing homosexuality in an unbiased and non-religious manner is highly offensive
Mentioning atheism is often anathema and considered offensive, whether you disparage their views or not
Any talk of social safety nets or helping the disadvantaged is offensive
Mentioning other countries success and liberty makes them steam out of the ears because America is surely the only free country on the planet
Talking about anything negative related to right wing movements will almost always result in them accusing the perpetrators of being leftist, and that said right wing movements were actually 'leftist'
There are probably other facets of Right PC that I haven't mentioned
I disagree.
They strongly diasagree with same-sex marriage, atheism ect. but they don't find them offensive as far as I know.

So then why such the strong animosity toward both? Normally animosity is reserved for some level of offense...not just blind hatred on instruction alone.

I would say there is a large amount of them who do find these concepts offensive. On this very board people have described at least one of these concepts as a 'perversion', and it is in the nature of most Western religions to be offended with atheism, though only extreme practitioners tend to proscribe this view. Coincidentally, the Right gets a good portion of its support from extreme practitioners

The right also has a PC edict against the word "socialism" or "socialized". You see it in their ranting against "socialized medicine". Clearly it's the word "socialist" that scares them because they are incapable of differentiating the capitol "S" Socialism of Marxist ideology from the kind of welfare state "socialism" practiced in some European countries. There isn't really a continuous link between the two. No European "socialists" believe that government should forcibly implement collectivization of all private property and industrial production as Marxist Socialists believe.
Yeah its totally unbelievable that they still believe that. We have had socialized medicine in Canada for a long time now and we aren't all living in collective farms and I certainly don't refer to everybody as 'comrade' except in a humorous manner. It actually saddens me how much they are being mislead. Many on the Right are actually poor and not well educated and would probably benefit from a social safety net, but their ignorance makes them susceptible to this punditry that turns them against their own future

Welfare in and of itself is a Four Letter Word for most on the right.

Actually, not so much. There are atheists who are quite respectable, like Isaac Asimov, and then there's Richard Dawkins.
I'm glad you think so, but I'm afraid your sentiment is not shared by a lot of people with similar leanings

Actually it is an eight letter word. But with pinko stinko lefties in charge of public schooling, who is learning how to count?

There is a reason why I capitalized "Four Letter Word": I meant it more as a title for a vulgarity.
And you capitalize titles.

Actually, I think my sentiment is shared among a fair number of conservatives I know in real life, however it's not atheism itself that is so much the problem as it is with atheism being the only politically correct view about religious issues able to be espoused by teachers or students in many schools. Atheism is, in my opinion, not good for one eternally, but I have no grudge against people merely on the grounds of their holding such a view. It's not atheism, but it's the policies invented and made law by various legislative bodies of the governments of nations and states that tend to set people on edge about anything. When anything is held higher than another, there will always be people who get upset.
Good for you.

I think the 8 letter word would also be a title for a vulgarity, starting with b and ending with t. Welfare sounds like a nice concept, unless you need it and don't qualify even though you're homeless and can't find work as I was for part of 2005 and 2007, and from people who are on it, it also sounds like a shoddy deal at best.

Sabotage is a great way to convince the people they shouldn't have it.
