Other people's opinions amuse me. Especially if they're strong opinions.

I'm a very intense person, but when I read PPR, I feel light-hearted.

Hard to imagine.

More often I get the old fire horse smoke in the nostrils feeling of getting out the red pencil for marking up the term papers.

I think it's because most people on here are even more intense and opinionated than me.

I put 'Other'. I want my theories to be tested by others to check my own ability to theorise and argue. So far, I think the main problem is that I seem to be incapable of properly explaining things (a problem I have always had, regardless of whether it is philosophy-related or not), or others have different ideas of what the words I use mean. So it is a bit useless.

I'm pleased to see that intellectual stimulation really pops out as a specific reason that people participate in PPR; I think this is an often unconsidered need of many AS people since our we tend to be personally isolated. Part of my motivation in creating this poll was to answer potential questions about the value of this forum to WP and the AS community in general, and so far I've very happy with the results.

I'd like for it also to be a vehicle for posters new and old to examine their own reasons for posting and what, if anything, they hope to accomplish by participating here. I personally think I get a lot more value out of my own contributions when I'm not concerned about "winning" an argument or "proving" someone wrong but rather with trying to contribute to the discussion in an interesting way. For sure I'll jump in when I see something that's factually wrong that I happen to have specialized knowledge on, but I've learned not to get too bent out of shape about such things.

I've probably been personally motivated by every choice I gave in the poll plus some I didn't list at one point or another during my time here, though at the moment fun and intellectual stimulation are my primary reasons for posting.
