'The rich will rot in hell'

So basically if someone works hard to achieve their wealth by putting in long hours, hard work, taking risks....they are going to hell? sounds like those who created this myth of heaven/hell and wealth being bad is from the have nots...those who havent tried in their lives and look at envy on those who have...I used to feel like a have not..blaming others for my predicament..you know where that gets you ? nowhere...now I work, enjoy life, and take responsibility..at the end of the day I feel better...ohh well..guess im going to hell for it....
No, only if they put their money and material goods ahead of their faith.
Given how often the Bible exhauts giving away what you own, it does make one wonder about the rich who claim piety while guarding their wealth.
I don't think it is all a way to make the poor feel better, as intriguing as that theory is. We are meant, as humans, to take care of each other and be good to each other. Live that way and you can see Heaven from Earth. Generous people, by and large, are much happier people. The obsession with worldly goods, however, moves one away from that ideal. It interferes with finding peace in this life, even if you have no interest in the next.
These Bible passages speak to a truth of human nature as a way of warning us not to fall for that trick, of thinking things will make us happy. It's a bit as if God was like Willy Wonka, shaking his head at Veruca Salt.
