Many conservatives don't hate liberals, they just act condescendingly towards them and assume it is all media conspiracy in which the conservatives are the only one avoiding brain washing. Which allows them to feel superior, which is probably their main motivation.

To answer OP: Reason US conservatives are so hated range for many things:
* In a horrific case of idiot ball. Republican leadership decided to pander for the nutjob part of their acolytes. That is , creationists, global warming deniers, Glenn Beck fans and thus the Republican became the anti-science, anti-reason party. They are like the return of the obscurantism days, trying to destroy any rational thought from the country. That makes just about anyone who actually gets science to hate this party for its destructive behavior against reason.

* All around the world though. Most foreigns relate Republicans with the Cow boy interventionist moron image that George W. Bush so well established. Of course, thanks to Obama basically being a neocon and demonstrating that US liberals and conservatives are basically the same crap, this will change over the years and turn into just raw anti-Americanism.

* Because of point 1) US conservatives tend to be religious nuts. The kind of bigot that bashes people for being homosexual. Who thinks abortion is an insult to God and utter murder. And who thinks US is a Christian country by the constitution and are utter racist and sexist. Religion has become a rather hated thing all over the web. The republican leaders are guilty of letting their party inherit this stigma just to pander for the votes of Christian nuts.

To answer OP: Reason US liberals are so hated range for many things:
* In a horrific case of idiot ball. Democrat leadership decided to pander for the nutjob part of their acolytes. That is , environmentalists, public school students, CNN fans and thus the Democrat party became the anti-science, anti-reason party. They are like the return of the obscurantism days, trying to destroy any rational thought from the country. That makes just about anyone who actually gets science to hate this party for its destructive behavior against reason.

* All around the world though. Most foreigners relate Democrats with the Jackass interventionist moron image that Barack Hussein Obama so well is establishing. Of course, thanks to Obama basically being a DINOSAUR and demonstrating that US liberals and conservatives are basically the same crap, this will change over the years and turn into just raw anti-Americanism ubiquitously.

* Because of point 1) US liberals tend to be antireligious nuts. The kind of bigot that bashes people for having heterogeneous opinions to themselves. Who thinks abortion is not infanticide so long as the proper game of definitions performed first. And who thinks US is a post-Christian country by the constitution and are utterly racist and sexist. Liberals continually express their irrational hatred for religion in general and Christianity in particular all over the web. The Democrat leaders are guilty of letting their party inherit this stigma just to pander for the votes of nuts.

^ keet is the non-exception that proves the rule. He is a YeC that is a freaking YOUNG EARTH Creationist. That a person into such level of fundamentalism can actually believe himself to be on the side of reason shows how incredibly outside of the realm of reality they are.

The true tragedy is the republican party pandering to them instead of putting actual care into things that they have a better case of, like economics. But anyway...

It is even hard to believe.

Really, and you think you're on the side of reason merely because you subscribe to the vogue theory of nonrepeatable origins? I don't know about you, but I don't have to buy into everything and jump onto one of the bandwagons of the day in order to appreciate or understand or be proficient at chemistry, physics, mathematics, or anything else.

Vex is more sane on the matters of religion. I mean, even though non-religious people are more often democrats, most democrats have a religion.

Well, it is important to understand the left-right-divide.

Because of the notions of right and wrong that conservatives hold, the left hates us more then it hates evil.

The leftists notions of right and wrong are based on the strong versus the weak, the rich versus the poor, un-oppressed versus the oppressed, the materially advantaged versus the disadvantaged, the well-off versus the not-well-so-well-off.... or in other words, it is a materialistic view. It often sees evil through that lens, or in America, through the lens of race, class, and gender. Whereas a black guy who beats his pregnant black girlfriend to death, the lens applied changes the narrative to justify it based on race, class, and gender, and fault the sexist, racist, classist "system" for making him the vile violent creature he is.

They also cannot believe that the opposition's idealism can be that noble since they couldn't imagine themselves doing the same. It has to therefor be materialistic.

The left is tribalistic (fascism was tribalism based on nation, communism was tribalism based on class, nazism was tribalism based on race). The right is individualistic. This is why identity politics is so important to them, and their always out to group people and nurture identities.

The left is pro-equality, the right is pro-liberty. The only realm that the Left is pro-liberty on is the sexual arena and gay rights. In every other realm, Liberty is in the service of Equality.

We are pro-justice, they are pro-compassion, and it guides both of our social policies.

At the end of the day, the left hates the right more then it hates evil... because it attributes a lot of evil emanating from the right, and sees us constructing the evils that they fight. Or in other words... Evil is constructed, the "system", and the average human being's failings are because of the system.

We on the right feel that the greatest battles in life are not with the world, but with your nature and your self. The left believes the human being is too good to do these things on their own, and forces beyond them compel them to do the heinous acts that they commit.

I think Dox and Neanthumain are kind of on the right track.

In addition though, I'd say that conservatives have earned more hatred of and have less representation in the cultural elite. This is mostly for reasons lining up with Neanthumain's reasons, because conservative culture tends to clash with the aims of media culture(which is creative and open, not repressive), media culture will tend to trash conservative culture and do so viciously and often.

It's more of Liberals can't stand it when people disagree with them.

As I pointed out the reason why Liberals are so obsessed with the destruction of Fox News, that the left used to have a total monopoly in the media. With the emergence of talk radio and Fox News their monopoly has been obliterated, and they can't stand that fact.

Fact of the matter is that liberal culture is very oppressive, it is only open when you agree with them. The leftist elitists are of the mindset that we are too stupid to decide anything and government must dictate every moment of our lives from birth to grave.

Example: Trying to ban table salt in restaurants in New York City.

Example 2: Telling a US company that they can't build a factory in South Carolina.

Example 3: Playing politics with disaster relief aid (Texas wildfires).

Fact of the matter is that for all the Liberals preach tolerance, they really have a tendency to behave like bigots.

Conservatives are more hated than liberals are because liberals are more full of hatred than conservatives are.

I would say it is more liberals have been taught to blame others for their problems, while a Conservative is more apt to take responsibility.

The conservative stereotype in my mind seems to have an aversion to complexity that comes across as thick-headedness and a lack of willingness to try understand the world outside of pre-conceived notions that comes across as cold-heartedness. They also seem to peddle one varient or another of the "just world fallacy".

Yet another left-wing fallacy created because they can't stand the fact they are not superior to Conservatives, liberals seem to suffer from an over-inflated ego.

Contrary to what conservatives with a theory of mind deficit and persecution complex think, ego doesn't play much of a part. If it is arrogant to claim that one is right while another is wrong, then the coin is identical from both sides. You therefore suffer from the exact same over-inflated ego that you claim liberals suffer from as you rarely show any restraint from pointing out the wrongs of those whose ideologies you oppose. Not only that but you use a generous dose of sarcasm and  smileys. That's not exactly humble.

Those are typically in response to people claiming conservatives are con-artists, or some other insult.

As for being blunt, using sarcasm, etc., I never claimed I was diplomatic, quite the opposite.

Not being diplomatic might just be a sign of having an over-inflated ego, don'tcha think?

Actually, liberals are hated more, but conservatives tend to talk about it less.
