It is quite interesting that cultural devaluation of females is only trotted-out by abortion opponents when it involves aborting one sex of fetuses over another,
this by people who would render pregnant women state-owned breeding sows.

Devaluation and Women topic

If I choose to abort, it is my choice. Like it or not, a women can abort any fetus, whether healthy, female, disabled, in western style democracy.

However, once born, there is a person, with all human rights. This is when cultural value is decided. Countries in which extreme poverty/male privilege are the norms are not democratic, so choice for women is limited, and the only choice a woman might have is to abort female fetuses, thereby favouring males, who are valued in any political economy, and are not subject to the deprivations women suffer.

I hope in time there will be a close to absolute way of women choosing to avoid pregnancy, and better methods/access to contraception for both men and women, and then the issue of abortion will be no more.
