I think the root of the Americans' interest (at least the society, not the gov) in this is their Protestant majority. Protestantism is the most "Jewished" form of Christianity in faith and culture and the closest major Church (including most branches) to Jews, not to forget the raptor and judgment day stuff....

That's why their leftists are usually anti-Israel while the conservatives are more pro-Israel (same for the Brits) , the more religious (Protestant) the American/Brit is the more he/she's likely to be pro-Israel and anti-Canaanitessss (those cursed people with sssserpent's sssseeed in their blood....why I am hissssing? what'sss there in my bloodsss?).

I once considered myself a "conservative" and I once believed this too, as most good conservatives seem to think they should. It is quite common for people to swallow pre-packaged worldviews whole and end up thinking that if they believe in ABC they must also believe in XYZ, because the they are told the two ideas fall under the same political label.

Where does this idea that Israel's interests are the same as Britain's, Europe's and America's, and that Western conservatives must support Israel really come from? Do you not suppose that much of it might be propaganda spread by Zionist jews themselves, eager to win supporters?

India and Japan are liberal democracies. Are they part of the West too? Was Britain still part of the West before it allowed almost every adult with a pulse to vote in elections?

Regardless of whether Israel survives or not, it would be really quite simple for Europe and America to resist the continuing Third World invasion if the political will were there.

To be part of Western civilization isn't a matter of skin color or genetics, as once believed; rather it's a matter of culture. And yes, those black and brown people will in time become acculturated into being Westerners.
And while I'm not quite sure about India yet, I do believe that Japan has pretty much become part of the west since the end of WWII.

We don't base any doctrines on Revelation.

The Book of Revelation contains the ravings of a madman. Luther and Calvin were quite correct in their misgivings. Most of the crazy end of the world scenarios have their origins in this wretched book.

It is an extremely hard-to-understand book, true, so your view is understandable, but it means amazing things, and leaves one in awe after studying it diligently for its meanings.
I love the Jesus Christ manifestation in Revelation (after all, the book is actually called, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ") -- first came the meek Jesus in the Gospels... now comes the powerful King of Kings to reign forever and ever. (Which reminds me of one of my favorite Germans: Handel.) The apostle John's writing is simply amazing -- incredibly tight and to the point -- in both his Gospel and Revelation. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ...In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." Countless volumes have been written just on these verses, and I'm not surprised.

this makes me think you did not read them in koine.
The styles of the two book are irreconcilable.
It is a Common belief than John the Revelator (author of The Apocalypse) != John the Beloved Apostle (Author of the Gospel)

I actually deplore the Gospel of John it is so vague, Pseudo-Intellectual, Gnostic and infested with Greek philosophy
I much prefer the Gospel of Mark.

Well, ya, but I think Malcolm Muggeridge put it better than us both:

Quote:
We look back upon history and what do we see, empires rising and falling, revolutions and counter-revolutions, wealth accumulated and wealth dispersed. I look back upon my own fellow countrymen of England who once dominated a quarter of the world, most of them are convinced ‘the God who made the mighty will make them mightier.’ I have heard a crazed cracked German acclaim to the world that he would usher in the world of the German Reich, and that he would be more powerful than any ruler before him. I have seen an Italian clown with his own arrogant assumption of power. I’ve seen a murderous Russian in the Kremlin proclaimed to be the wisest and greatest leader to ever live. I have seen America wealthier and more powerful militarily than the rest of the world put together. Had the American people desired, they could have outdone a Caesar or an Alexander in the range and scale of their conquests. I have seen this all in one lifetime, and now gone with the wind. England now threatened with dismemberment and bankruptcy, Hitler and Mussolini dead, remembered only in infamy. Stalin now a forbidden name in the regime he helped found and dominate for some three decades. America is now haunted by the fears of running out of the precious fluid that runs her automobiles, with the horrible memories of a disastrous campaign in Vietnam and the victories of the Don Quixotes of the media as they charged the windmills of Watergate--all in one lifetime--and now gone with the wind...Behind the debris of these civilizations stands the gigantic figure of Jesus Christ, because of whom, in whom, and through whom man can ultimately find the answer for himself and for history.

Many Conservatives support Israel because they never want another holocaust to happen again. Furthermore, if the Muslims fanatics seize Israel they've already shown they won't stop there, as we can see in Europe.

More Jews have been killed by Xtian Europeans than Muslims are the Europeans afraid if Israel fails
that all the Jews will come back and then they might commit another holocaust?
Because the Idea that Europeans just love Jews so much that they live in fear that anything bad should
happen to them just goes against experience.

The Arabs started in one corner of Iraq. Islam, which means "submission", motivated them to kill their way across the entire Middle East to possess it, and it won't stop there. It's quite a testament to the supreme negative power of that religion that it could hold back such an otherwise-brilliant people, the Arabs, from continuing to develop positively and productively as a culture. The psychotic oppression (oppression is really too mild a word) of women at every level is a huge factor in their stifled development as a society. Also, the "debate against me and my religion and I'll kill you" part of Islam doesn't exactly foster a positive relationship with the rest of the world, nor does it cause them to man-up and actually think honestly about their faith and its damaging implications. Secularization would actually be an improvement in many Muslims' case. (The UAE is doing pretty well when compared with the religious Arab Mid-East.) The best kind of Islam is the re-interpretative/progressive/liberal kind, just because following the Quran is such an all-over bad idea. If a Muslim wants to eschew all the violent and oppressive parts of the Quran (as some do), more power to him -- I won't have anything against him.

FWIW, I'm with you. The conflict really doesn't interest me in the least. On my list of top priorities, it doesn't even rate. I just don't get all the hype.

It is happening now in Uganda. What are your Conservative buddies doing about that?

It is much better not to care at all than to pretend concern.

American conservatives are making sure that gays get the death penalty in Uganda. You know; a legitimate concern. :P

I notice you're using one element of American conservatism in order to tarnish all American conservatives.

A lot of American conservatives would be horrified at the actions of US Christian fundamentalists behaving the way they do in regard to Uganda. I'm very conservative and I find it totally and utterly abhorrent.

That is absolutely true. I apologize; though in this case, the term conservative usually implies religious conservatives when applied to support for Israel in the minds of most people, because of the religious implications.

I have a big problem with Christian fundamentatists I mean I read the bible not to go by it all literally is a bit extreme often dangerous to.

I am a conservative myself but not a religious conservative I beleive in tradition and family values.

Poltically I am a classic liberal and I attend a Methodist church John Wesley and his brother Charles founded the Methodist church which is the most modern church that openly accepts homosexuals I am bi-gender so my church family treats me no diffrent because of it.
