You're sounding a bit of a tube, I'm sorry to say.

I used to believe this (or that they were at least equivalent), Ruveyn, until I saw a video of an actual kosher slaughterhouse. It was pretty damn horrific. I think that the best answer is probably either Visagrunt's little slaughterhouse, where they can take the time to kill one animal at a time, and make sure that they do it right, or a big slaughterhouse a la Temple Grandin.

Grandin's approach is best. Kosher slaughter correctly done is as close to painless as possible. The blood is drained from the brain in just a few seconds and consciousness is lost.

A bolt in the brain first is better.

In the video I saw, the cow took several minutes to die - and that wasn't even the worst of it.

It is strange how jews and muslims are the only ones to insist that this is the case.

It really doesn't matter that you can strap electrodes to the heads of cows before slaughter and take detailed reading of brain activity. Nope it doesn't matter at all that when this is done in a controlled fashion by reputable scientists it is very easy to demonstrate that the bolt gun to the head completely stuns the animal and there is no brain activity during the slaughter. It doesn't matter that it also very easy to demonstrate that there is rather a lot of unpleasant brain activity for several minutes during ritual slaughter without pre stunning.

It doesn't matter that you can obviously tell the difference without even resorting to analysing brain waves, a video camera is enough to demonstrate the difference.

Nope doesn't matter at all because at all times, religious belief MUST trump scientific reality.

This all sounds very confused from where I am standing.

Jews and Muslims are religiously forbiden to eat meat with blood in it. Draining the animal of blood is the first step in carrying out this commandment.

If blood is the only reason
if a humane method that removed blood was invented would it be Kosher?

As long as the animal is not "torn" in the process. That is what treyf means --- torn or dismembered while alive.

The religious insist that you should slit an animal's throat in order for the slaughter to be approved by god.

They claim that this method causes the animal no pain and is superior to all other methods.

Animal rights people and erm science disagrees.

Which is why most countries require animals to be stunned before slaughter, with exceptions made for 'religious' reasons.

I for one agree with the ban. Not even from a religious perspective, but from an animal welfare perspective. I recently read that a cow has blood supplied to the brain from the back of the neck, so it will take longer to die, and probably suffer because of this. I've also seen videos of this sort of slaughter, and I could never believe that this is a more humane way to slaughter an animal. Just because a religion has a belief, doesn't make it right.

Parts of history do, yes, but other parts suggest great technological innovation and progress is helped by a mixture of pride in one's country and pride in one's being and work.

The difference is civic v ethnic nationalism.

One's ethnic group or race is just an extension of one's family. And just as it is normal for a person to be loyal to their own family, so it is normal for a person to be loyal to their own ethnic group or race. This is the idea behind ethnic nationalism. The fact that after however many years of following politics you still cannot understand this just shows the extent to which you have been influenced by the propaganda of those "leftists" you complain about.

Look at it this way. Would you allow your family home to be taken over by strangers just because they shared your taste in furniture, drank milky tea in the morning and believed in "freedom"? No, surely not, because in that instance you would surely feel that placing total emphasis on the cultural appearance of a geographic location while treating human beings as if they were interchangeable was daft. So why should Britain's native people want to give Britain away to other races, regardless of what values those other races profess to hold?

Well I do think Temple Grandins approach is pretty darn good. I even see a day where biblical scholars will debate and ultimately decide that incorporating her methods into kashrut laws would be a good idea.

I love meat, don't get me wrong. I've even tried venison and loved it, and I can guarantee the deer or buck that got shot didn't enjoy that experience. The whole idea behind kashrut is two fold, the health of humanity and courtesy to the animal dying for food. We're the only animal on earth that even gives a damn, and we're doing the best we can I think. Change often comes slow, Grandin's approach is very good and maybe someday it'll be a part of kashrut. I'm sure people in the industry are aware of her new technology.
