I think the praising comes from the fact that they had the courage to come out about it in a society that frowns upon it. If I were to put myself in a hypothetical where I was gay and received a congratulations like I had won the lottery, I think that would be a very awkward situation.

There are many things that people hide from other people, being gay is one. Others could be being bullied, harassed, or molested and you'd think that would be inspirational for those people.

In other words, "No, you can't put up a Merry Christmas sign or a Nativity scene, because people will complain that they feel hated because of it."

This and your thread of obsessions as religion are basically sermons. People would be more respectful of your Christianity if you stopped trying to ram it down our throats, and if you adopted a more tolerant stance yourself.

As a fellow aspie you get some leniency for forgetting how your words may be interpreted by others, but I think you have had enough feedback by now to notice that your topic is offense to people (many people).

No one is praised for "just being gay" so there is no need to explain it.

Rather, you should be ashamed for insulting the intelligence of every other person on this forum by embarking on such a sham exercise.
