His making jokes was his attempt to lighten things, because in case you did not notice, Hannity was treating him like a piece of sh**, which is exactly what Hannity's viewers want. They and Hannity could give two f**** about what Schultz and OWS think. I am glad Schultz maintained his composure

Perhaps you are better at reading body language than I am, but he seems entirely composed to me. We could always send him an email and ask him what he believes. Or perhaps he has a blog somewhere?

He does elaborate on his position, however. After Hannity finishes his line of questioning, Schultz begins to talk about Google providing their services for free, and that other corporations should follow suit. Was this stance also pressured out of him?

I do not seem to recall saying Schultz lost his composure. In fact, I said the exact opposite

At the end of the "interview" if that is what it can even be called, what Schultz had to say on politics did not really matter, since Hannity had essentially painted him as an unemployed loser who hangs out with rapists and criminals and hates capitalism. Hannity was pretty clearly attacking him, especially when Fox censors had to intervene on his cursing

The OWS guy should not have bit on Hannity's line of questioning about his personal life. Hannity had no intention of listening to what the guy had to say, he is an entertainer, there to entertain his white trash flock

I'm not defending Hannity, but what do you think that guy had to say?

I would love to have heard it, a credible news organization would have given him the opportunity to elaborate his position. Instead Hannity decided to provide his viewers with the entertainment they desire, not enlightenment. The guy even said, when Hannity was querying him about his employment, that Hannity already checked this on LinkedIn so what is the purpose of that line of questioning

The statement that cops were somehow infiltrating the OWS movement to discredit it was pretty stupid. The small number of criminal incidents that did happen were blown way out of proportion by the right in the first place so there's no need to come back with conspiracy theories. As for his political views, he didn't really get a chance to clearly explain them. It seems Hannity stated them for him instead, trying to frame him into a corner.

I agree, though cops infiltrating peaceful protests and inciting violence is not something without precedent. The SQ here in Quebec is well known for this, having been caught red handed, and it has happened elsewhere. I don't think it is as unlikely as some would assume, and I am not one to consider "conspiracy theories" worthy of investigation

I thought he was talking about incidents within the OWS protests being framed by police. I have no doubt that there were incidents where cops instigated clashes between protesters and police. There also seemed to be a lot of incidents where a single protester acting out of line did something like spit at a cop or throw something and the cops responded by charging in with tear gas and beating people down to arrest the person who disrespected them.

The impression I got from him, besides there being police agents provocateurs, that criminals, drunks and vagrants were released from jails into the area. I don't know anything about that, but I know better than to believe that only the SQ has been responsible for instigating infiltration tactics. I think the police were likely ordered to respond with extreme prejudice

I'm not completely denying the possibility. I just see it as a pretty weak argument to make without presenting evidence to back up the claims. It's not something that strikes me as believable. I think he could have made a better comeback.

That is true. I don't think that was a particularly useful avenue to go down, and I suspect Hannity set the bait hoping Schultz would fumble so. Hannity and those like him make a career out of character assassination. If anyone should "get a real job", its him and his ilk

Yea. I'd like to know what great good Sean Hannity has done for the world.

Meh, the guy should have known better than to go on Hannity. That's like talking to the cops; you may think you'll be able to clear everything up by talking to them, but they get people to talk themselves into trouble for a living. Did he not know that Hannity is a conservative and likely to be a hostile interviewer?

I think the guy is quite naive so he probably thought he would have a pleasant, respectful and mutually enlightening chat with Mr Hannity (If I had been speaking and not typing this out, I do not think I would have been able to finish that sentence without laughing)

The shear volume of hatred coming from the repugnican trogs in the comment section is unnerving. Hopefully the 60 and older Fox news watching demographic dies off in the next 30 years. Disgusting parasitic shit-bags are eating up more cost in medicare than they ever put in. f**k'em all. Health care is not a right. Have a heart attack and can't pay for the ER visit? Go f**k yourself right off and choke in the gutter. Don't make the younger generation pay for it.

Yes. Education is not negotiable. Education is required for an informed populace, and an informed populace is required for a functioning democracy.

Yes. The ability to live in a society where people don't die from preventable conditions is a priceless public good.

Depends. I don't think that anything purely cosmetic should be publically funded.

Burzum wrote:

Yes. Childcare is like healthcare, but for children.

I'm not sure about "free", but cheap and effective public transportation is a very good idea because it is less wasteful than everyone driving around in their own car.

I think that there should be free "places to live", for exactly the same reason that there should be free healthcare: it is a necessity for survival. I wouldn't require them to be grand enough to be described as "houses", though.

I'm failing to see how his performance is defensible, even if he doesn't believe what he's saying. Hannity may be a douchebag, but this guy certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

It absolutely matters. Maybe it doesn't matter to Hannity's viewers, but it matters in the context of this conversation.

I said "He was good enough not to let them see him sweat, but not good enough not to bite on that line of questioning". What I meant by this was he was capable enough to keep his composure but not swift enough to direct the conversation. Hannity on the other hand makes a career out of this so Schultz made a big mistake playing a game with a professional when he is an amateur, and a naive, unmaneuverable and poorly informed one at that

I don't think he is either, but whether I agree with him does not change my disgust at Hannity and what passes for journalism on Fox News

Sure it does, but I do not think there was ever a chance that it would be an even exchange. Schultz did not say he is friends with rapists and criminals but Hannity easily manipulated Schultz into tacitly accepting this argument, though I doubt Schultz was aware of it

Lesson? Don't think you can outwit professionals, especially when they control the editing.

I actually once heard a guy that had a few TV appearances come out of his blogging gig say that being on TV was like trying to ride a unicycle while juggling and drinking a martini; you not only have to make sense, but do it while suppressing all your normal little ticks and twitches and looking good for the camera. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me.

Hannity owned him lol,but seriously I kind of agree with both of their points I think education health and dental care should be free maybe even housing just not high end houses etc. Also that they should make it easier to get a job etc but also on Hannity's side I agree the guy should stop wasting his time and search for a job. Heck I did whenever I was unemployed and an aspie to boot and this was during it did not stop me although there were times I wanted to give up, I kept on trucking until I got hired.
