Not really plenty of people with a religious faith smoke pot. It is called the herb of all nations in the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, faith.

Yeah, but are they strict fundamentalists? The number 1 reason I hear for banning pot from conservatives is the bible forbids intoxication.

If you are going by that then alcohol should be illegal.

No the bible, isn't against drinking it just doesn't like it when people drink to much and can't make wise choices when their thinking is imparied.

I didn't say that the bible was against it. I said with that line of thinking then alcohol should be illegal also.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of them were closet prohibitionists.

Republicans are right wingers who are authoritarian. Their fixation on small government is about a certain kind of government activity; not police, prisons or military, but anything that allows people the opportunity to change the circumstances of their lives. Republicans want a huge number of people completely trapped living under stifling authority without any civil liberties whatsoever, and claim this is the Natural Order of Things. They hate so-called Big Government programmes if they serve to increase personal freedom. They like those that help keep people penned in.

The Republicans also gave us prohibition during the 1920s. Repealed by FDR.

They are for small government, but even republicans admits that government can't be too small. If government is too small that it can't regulate women vaginae or enforce the alcohol/tobacco/oil monopolies, then they would not like it.
