Scrawny little Jews built a bomb in Los Alamos that wiped out tens of thousands of brawny Japanese..

The brain is mightier than the sword or muscle.

The most intelligent prevail in the long run.

I never thought of the Japanese as brawny - just with a whole lot of physical and mental endurance and a "never say die" attitude.
And it should be remembered, European Jews over a 2000 year period had intermixed with gentile Europeans, to the point that many such European Jews are indistinguishable from their European neighbors. Who's to say where that alleged genetic predisposition for intelligence came from - the Middle East, or Europe?

I would say the Chinese are more intelligent over 5000 years of civilization and coming up with inventions ahead of their time.

Genes don't make one a Jew. Being brought up and living Jewish is what makes a Jew.

Wherever Jews in the diaspora dwelled they intermarried with the locals. King David's grandmother was Ruth, a Moabite. Jews do not constitute a racially "pure" group. They never have. Read the Book of Ezra sometimes. Ezra the Scribe is harping on his fellow Jews for marrying pagans. And that was over 2200 years ago.

The "Jewish Breeding Program" the one that turned out all the brights and smarts was primarily an Ashkenazic phenomenon that took place in Europe. When Jews lived in segragated communities there marriages were arranged in a manner I have already described. It was a purely accidental side effect to mate intelligent people with intelligent people. In those days no one knew how characteristics were transmitted from one generation to the next. It was purely fortuitous and accidental.

I was in truth only trying to get you to concede Jews are not genetically superior - or even different - from the rest of us.
But is any breeding program really a good thing - accidental or purposeful? Think of only the Nazi breeding farms.

If the premise posed by the OP is correct, how come Israel isn't leading the way in space exploration, physics, medicine etc?

In regards to space exploration, our initial steps forward were built on the back of the work of defecting Nazi scientists who were most definitely not Jewish.

You've missed a trick there, ruveyn. About technological inventions - here's a wee list of what Israel has given the world:

Not bad for some tiny little pinhead of a desert land in the Middle East.

What have oh, I don't know, the Saudis invented since 1948? Answers on a postcard please.

Most of these inventions seem to have military or semi-military applications, which is the end result of building a militarised fortress state with a batshit pathology and paranoia against your immediate neighbours. In this case I'd prescribe that developing said inventions were the intended ends from the start rather than a consequence.

The breeding program for intelligence, accidental as was, was an Ashkenazic phenomenon. It really originated in the European diaspora of the Askanzic Jews.

The Germans were big on rockets. For Jews nuclear physics and quantum theory was a cottage industry.

Over half the physicists at Los Alamos were Jews.

The American Rocket program, originated with Goddard in 1927 but was fully carried out in Germany. Von Braun was the Big Name. SS Oberst von Braun came to work for the United States.

I wasn't really raised Jewish, by the time I was born and in the care of my Bubby she was so adamantly atheist that I grew up without much of the religious aspects of being Jewish. We weren't around much family because all of my grandparent's real families were dead, up in smoke at the chimneys of various camps, I assume. We didn't really talk about it.

I grew up in the tiny community but it was hardly a very Jewish community. I've got a higher IQ than average, like most aspies, but very little to show for it. Now that I'm pursuing medicine, many of my adopted family members have made jokes about how "Maybe Beth really is a Jew!" etc.

I have very little to contribute to this thread. Though, ruveyn, I know I once told you I really enjoy your posts, but I failed to mention it's in part due to how much you remind me of my Bubby when she would get into debates. You're one of a few people I've encountered outside of family who refers to gentiles as goyim, and I don't know precisely why, but it always makes me smile!

I like ruveyn's posts, too. But the word "Goyim," instead of Gentile is rather scathing for me. While my maternal Grandmother's maiden name was Abramovske, her family had thought of themselves as nothing other than Prussian Lutherans since time immemorial. Obviously, they had left their Judaism far back. Truth be told, I'm more a son of Arminius than I ever could be a son of Abraham.

my subjective opinion on why jewish culture is more adaptive than many others is cause of there history, by being brutalized by the more powerful cultures in the area they where forced to be more adaptive to survive, in turn they have a culture that encourages and praises being clever and thinking out of the box (other than the religion it self). correlation does not = cause. iq test is a cultural test measuring what our culture thinks is smart. fyi according to jewish tradition im a full blood, my self of all people have reason to say im genetically better than the rest of you, but i dont cause there no real proof of it.

I would think when your neighbours (or people who are your immediate neighbours) are constantly trying to kill you and helping your enemies whilst being viscerally anti-Jewish then, yes, you'd become a bit "paranoid". Can't blame them really.

im not going to bother to read all of this thread, but i saw some people talking about the middle east and there lack of tech and cultural additions.

you know what algebra is? its a Arabic word! you know what the majority star names are, that's right Arabic! at one point the islamic/arabic culture was the center of intellectual thought. and in my opinion the spread of fundamentalism in the culture killed it as its now doing to our own.

culture plays a massive part in the societys ability as a group to produce stuff. Jewish culture has always bin rather liberal compared to its neighbors and cause of it produces a high number of intellectuals. (in my subjective opinion)

We must not confuse morality with truth. Characteristics in families are inherited height, color, weight etc. So why not intelligence.

How do you account for people with down syndrome. Do you think a person with down syndrome can be a lawyer, if born in a lawyer families?

Do you know that there is a condition called aspergers syndrome that can give people some intelligence advantages. Apparently this condition is inherited.
I have aspergers syndrome. Nobody encouraged me to learn about computers, or technology or to show an interest in science. I hope that one day I will be rich. I stand a better chance then the (average) in the office I work in.

I did not say, "There are no 'smart people' vs 'stupid people'." I said, "There are no 'smart peoples' vs 'stupid peoples'." He was talking about an ethnic/racial group. (Ready for the obligatory patronizing ot begin: I KNOW Judaism is a religion. It is ALSO a cultural identity. And it is ALSO an ethnicity, implying shared genetics. Don't even start on this point, people.)

I know about AS--I have it.

It would be easier to refute this argument that that intelligence cannot be defined. In nature we have subspecies that are more intelligent then others . Including dogs, Border collies are the smartest. The only counter argument appear to be based purely on the Wishful Thinking Fallacy that states that since it is not in our best interest to believe that one race is smarter then another they cannot be . But I am an aspie, got to state the truth regardless of social implications defined by NTs. I think it could be damaging to not see logic.

Asperger sydrome in in inherited condition. In some cultures aspies would be very successful and have many children. I can imagine doing well if I was Jewish, I would be encouraged to manage money will, have a love of science. In poor countries with limited resources, an intelligent aspie might have an advantage. I socialist England; however, singleness is almost guaranteed. An intelligent, responsible man isn't a prerequisite to starting a family and the bad boy has much better advantages.

The Islamic domains shone brightly from about 800 c.e. (our calendar) to 1300 c.e. and have gone dark since. The Islamic scholars saved the wisdom of Greece from being lost forever and re-exported back to Europe starting in the 13 th century c.e. For the last 700 years the Islamic domains have been intellectually retrograde compared with Europe and Asia. It was a good 500 years or so. Too bad it did not last.

So let's leave aside the straw man of IQ tests.

826 people have been awarded a Nobel prize, 185 of whom (22%) are Jewish or of at least 50% Jewish ancestry. That's 20% of the Chemistry laureates; 26% of the Physics laureates; 27% of the Medicine and Physiology Laureates. Among the non-scientific Nobels, people of Jewish ancestry account for 12% of the Literature laureates, 10% of the Peace laureates (not including organizational winners) and 41% of the Economics laureates.

Even if we accept the proposition that the Nobel Prize is skewed in favour of Europe and North America, Jews are still disproportionately represented among laureates.

To be sure, a great deal of this achievement is due to the economic opportunity that laureates have had to dedicate themselves to their research. But when cultures place value on learning and education--and more importantly on relevant learning and education--and when they dedicate their communities' resources towards education and learning, the results do tend to speak for themselves.

Historical precedent actually serves to reinforce this. At one time or other, the Greeks, the Chinese and the Arabs were all the leading thinkers of their day. But Greek dominance largely ended with Roman occupation. When the Latin and Orthodox churches split and Latin remained the language of research in the West, the Greeks were left behind. Chinese intellectual dominance largely ended when Chinese learning became restricted to 四書五經 (The Four Books and Five Classics). Any recovery that might have occurred with the Great Leap Forward was thoroughly crushed by the Cultural Revolution. But in the three and a half decades since, observe how quickly a refocussed Chinese education system has begun to establish success. While huffaz demonstrate a great intellectual accomplishment, it is hardly the type of accomplishment that is going to create great innovations. The intellectual heirs to the great Arab mathematicians are not memorizing the Quran; they are researching in universities.

Every community has its own potential Hawkings, Einsteins and Newtons. But without education, their gifts will come to nought.

Sure, the Palestinians spontaneously for no good reason, out of the blue got a rat up their arse when zionist militia frogmarched them off their ancestral lands, resettled them and forced them in unarable s**tholes on the coast. Who could have predicted that?

The state of Israel is an appartheid system with an inherent hatred of arabs and arab culture. Zionism has nothing to do with protecting Jews and even less to do with theological Jewry. Jews and arabs lived amicably and in peace in that area until 60 years ago. It was established by the west for the purposes of being a watchdog in the middle east region.

I would think that when your people are being constantly killed by F-16 bombers, tanks and gung ho soldiers and the empirical experience enfuses them with anti-semetic sentiment because all this is done in the name of Judaism, I can't really say I'm surprised really.
